You can win with a clown head coach as long as you have someone else running the show. FSU did it with Bowden in those last years. Clemson has done it to a couple of MNC's.
 
I can't imagine giving $1M+ to something only to have so little input to the outcome. At least Todd probably knows they're frustrated and has had to offer them more than an empty platitude form letter. He would've actually had to read my emails to know my thoughts and I probably got sent to the hate mail bin a while back. Either way, not worth a million bucks.
 
Also, what makes everyone believe Thacker has been demoted? A KQ post? How often are those wrong.

Bobby Bowden had extensive coaching experience. He is not Geoff.
 
I find it interesting that some GT fans think we operate in a vacuum and nobody else knows anything about our program. This is sports gents, it’s as elementary and lining up in 1st grade and a kid picking his team. Everybody knows who the top dog is, who the decent contributors are and who’s the öööö bag. There’s other team fans that care nothing about us because we’re completely irrelevant now, but of those that follow college football passionately or spend a fair amount of time following the sport we’re in one of two categories- sympathy and amazement on how we destroyed a competitive program so fast OR outright ridicule of how inept we are and fairly creative heckling of our HC and his staff.

We can say what we want internally but the jig is up. If that wasn’t readily apparent with the ND graphic, then the over the top demeaning of our staff wrt to basic football concepts during the mutt game, ie not being ready with a play when even the most casual observer had a clue, etc that should have sealed the deal. It has now reached the point where we’re mocked for being dumb…. at a school that prides itself on having smart students, graduates and sidewalk fans.

Yep. Folks in the industry know the deal. And it’s way beyond calling a 3 yard out route on 3rd and 12.
 
Both are much nicer than I would have been.

I was a staunch Collins supporter. I understood the reality that when he took over our cupboard was nearly completely bare. But I am of the belief now that there are college students coaching intramural flag football teams who have a better organization of their intramural team and more knowledge of football and Collins does.

He is completely incapable of coaching as the head coach FBS level. He should be fired.

If I was either of those big donors I would’ve looked at Todd in the eye and told him they will not see one cent for me until he is gone. and if he does not fire him immediately then he will likely lose his job too.

Well I know a bunch of season tickets holders who are not reupping until the circus that Coach Collins brought to the FLATS leaves vis his firing. So hopefully they have tickets in 2023 to support a new coach!

However the Buyout won't happen until 18 Dec 2022 or 19 Dec 2022... It is 7M on that date, where before that date it is like 10.2M

Explain to us, in what Universe do you keep the worst performer that is also the highest paid on Staff, also factor in OLine is maybe the 1st or 2nd most critical position Unit on most Teams, OLine is where you have to have your best Position Coach.

Just seems like a stretch to blame everything on these donors when the article also states they are unhappy with other areas of personnel (Thacker). That was the crux of your argument.
 
FWIW, I still do not agree with hitching Stansbury's wagon to DJ Jazzy Geoff. The GTAA looks actually competent for the first time in ages. If Stansbury is fired and we get another Mike Bobinski type character out of Zelnak like last time, you'll find me instead screaming to fire Zelnak and Garrett.

His point is we'll know by the end of September whether Geoff and TStan are going to be employed at the end of season. The first 4 games are: Clemson, WCU, Ole Miss, and UCF. If you start 1-3, you'd have to finish conference play 6-1 (6-2 for the year) to survive. So, you're basically facing going to the ACC title game or bust at that point, and you're not beating UGA.

We'll know in September. The search can start early and groundwork layed throughout the remainder of the season behind the scenes. Things move very quickly then in December 2022.

I will say the first truly dumb move I've seen by Stansbury is letting that Ole Miss game get played. We scheduled a home and home for Ole Miss half way through the PJ era. Ole Miss didn't want to play the option so they delayed the game. It rolled around again. PJ was still here. They delayed the game AGAIN. And now Ole Miss has Lane Kiffin and a hot offense and we're coming in with the worst team of my entire lifetime and we're just going to play the game. öööö that, delay it just like Ole Piss did. And punt on the UCF game indefinitely ... there's nothing to be gained there, and we've already had our Stansbury awl shucks look where you used to work game.... twice.
 
If the $1mm/yr x 3 years rumor for the OC is correct, count me as disappointed. I expected $1.5mm x 2. Especially at this juncture. It gets our assistant pool to the point that we all want to be as well.

If the hire works, the hire helped right the ship and is easily worth the extra $500k/yr. If it doesn’t, the OC is cleaned out with CGC next year anyway so the $3mm is the same.
 
Most of us feel the same as these guys. As has been mentioned ITT, I do think it's a bad look to have two of your biggest donors crapping on the coach and AD like this publicly. It sort of cuts the legs out from under both of them. If you're going to do that, then should have already fired them.

I mean, we had so many injuries last year that we had William freaking Lay starting last year..... I'm not saying CBK did good, because he didn't but Pop and Burton were our two worst assistants. The secondary being that bad with starters out there, not former walk-ons, is inexcusable
