We aren't even competing for the portal title! We can't win anything.

Do we have anybody left on the roster that is good enough to be able to upgrade their situation? The older guys are leaving in various ways and the young guys haven’t made much of an impression on the field yet and will probably play by default if they stay.

I don’t blame him one bit. Collins used him for a splash during that first recruiting cycle then crickets. Griffin may just be leaving on principle. That happens when kids grow into being a man. And all this talk of touches next year, come on. Who wants to be brutalized game after game.

Just imagine how linemen feel.

Gibbs will probably be the only one who transfers up.

Is dad implying that he got nudged out? It doesn't make sense given the smallest RB room we've had since stockpiling a dozen or so for as many years back. I guess if Collins is gonna start processing guys now would be as good a time as any with the honeymoon over
He’s not implying anything, he flat out said it. Man was told to dance, he gave them the finger.

Isn't his brother also on the roster at DT? I may have missed it, but is he still around?

I don't think JaQuon has announced anything. He has been here 4 years but still has some eligibility. The other Griffin brother is at Virginia Tech. Maybe Jamious joins him there.

I know this case and the other running backs that are "entering the portal" are most likely gone, but just for clarification, if you enter the portal you still do not have to leave if you don't like the options that are presented to you right? So in theory, someone could test the waters by entering the portal and end up staying at Tech right?

This however is probably a death wish in the locker room if you stay and your fellow teammates will forever view you as a traitor.

There has to be a reason he wasn't getting carries.

1) injuries
2) better players ahead of him
3) we hoped he would stay and redshirt.

If it was 1 or 2, that is on him. If it was 3, that is on the staff for not making it clear what the plan was

Gibbs and Mason were ahead of him on the depth chart. They red shirted him this year so he didn’t play. He was going to be the guy with Smith next year. He should have maintained the course. His opportunity was right in front of him.

The portal, essentially free agency for 18-21 year olds, will be part of the downfall of college football. Players should be allowed to go, but something needs to change. I understand there are over 2,000 names in the portal but only a fraction of available scholarships. Unless many go to the FCS or Div. 3, they aren't going to necessarily be in a better position searching for the green grass. I suppose they see the top guys moving around and it working out like Joe Burrow or Kenneth Walker, but 99% aren't Joe Burrow. Ironically, the portal and it's overcrowding may help a poor coach like Collins, if they can pick up some players other programs have developed we can possibly win another three games.

This all falls on the AD. Anyone that knows football can see our coaching deficiencies yet he continues to bleed the program . Should have cut ties with Collins when the season ended. Collins has been a head coach for 5 years now and isn't improving. Looking like a 2-3 win season next year. If that happens, Todd should be gone too.

Right now college football is doing everything possible to avoid having to allow schools to directly pay players, and letting players freely transfer is just one more argument that they can use to demonstrate that the players are more like students than employees.

If actual pay for play ever comes to fruition, then this will stop because players will actually be under contract. If not, then the portal will probably remain a fact of life, and will probably be very popular as players look to transfer for a variety of reasons (not all of which relate directly to PT), just like normal students do.
