From the beginning, I have seen him badly miss way, way, way too many throws. Not sure a new offensive coordinator is going to fix that. He needs a lot time with a passing guru like Jordan Palmer. And even that is a longshot, as it is pretty rare for dudes to get much more accurate with downfield passes at this point.

Our only hope to not have a truly disgusting season next year is someone fixes Sims’ footwork, ball security, etc or this new kid is the next coming of Kurt Warner.

It’s not that dire. Sure, 10 more points of offense per game would have been great, but if we had the #100 defense instead of the #117 defense, we would have won 7 games on average. It’s not that difficult to have a top 100 team defense as a P5 DC.

Regarding Sims, a poor o-line instead of a piss-poor o-line would go a long way to resolve those issues. Not saying he doesn’t need to work on it, but his flaws would be far less prominent with a fair to middlin’ Oline.

Ill take the Akron kid that has actually performed at the college level vs. another overhyped transfer that couldn't compete at his previous stop. We're batting like 1-for-20 with those kids ever contributing

I think they were all more accurate. Nesbitt definitely. He mostly threw deep passes on the rare occasions when he threw. Ball was (supposedly) a pro-style pocket passer with a more typical mix of easier short and medium passes. Ball threw 300-400 times a year; Nesbitt threw about 400 times in his entire career. And athough I rely on my eyes, FWIW Nesbitt's passer rating was significantly higher than Ball's.
 
Our QBs used to have relatively high Y/A. Low percentage was a result of the throws they were expected to make. Go look at the profiles of most QBs and sideline 10+ yds completionpercentages drop off quite a bit.

*6 wins. We would have given up 7.5 fewer points per game. That would have pushed us over with N Illinois, Clemson, and Miami. We lost to UVA by 8, so if you rounded up we would have taken that to OT.

Eitherway, 6 wins and a bowl would have made Tech fans happy this year.

Teams would play us differently if we had any type of reliable threat. It’s not quite that simple as elevating a horrible defense to pretty crappy.

Yep. We had to have the worst OG play in CFB. We compounded it by having bad OT play.

He was our starter in 2021. He is the presumed starter in 2022. That is why I used quotes.
If he can veto the signing of any other QB, then it is likely that he will be the 2022 starter. I wonder if Saban gave Jalen Hurts the ability to veto Tua's signing at Bama or if Dabo gave Bryant the ability to veto Lawrence's signing at Clemson.
