Tech currently ranked #9 in transfers per 247 Sports. Shows 7 transfers, but all 3 star - wasn’t Gee a 4 star? Don’t think this rating factors in transfer losses (?).

Good to see - really need a quick influx of immediately available talent.

So far:
Adds : Paul Tchio, OT, Clemson
Hassan Hall, RB, Louisville
Pierce Quick, OT, ‘Bama
Zach Gibson, QB, Akron
Luke Benson, TE, Syracuse
Ahmari Harvey, S, Auburn
Khaki Gee, S, Norte Dame
Losses : Jordan Huff, CB, TBD
Marquez Ezzard, WR, TBD
Khama Wright, LB, TBD
Jahmy Gibbs, RB, ‘Bama
Jordan Yates, QB, TBD
Jamal Camp, OL, TBD
Tony Amerson, RB, TBD
Jaquon Griffin, DL, TBD
Chayden Perry, QB, TBD
Adonicus Sanders, WR, TBD

Higher profile transfers get re-rated by 247 when they transfer. Most of the guys we pull in that our fans tout as elite 4/5 star recruits are re-ranked as 3 stars by the time they show up. I don’t think we’ve ever had a 4 star transfer come in. Gibbs and Braun were rated as 4 stars when transferring out.

Gibbs and Sanders are the only significant losses.

Griffin seemed to make as many plays as anybody else at DT. Sanders is a loss, but wasn’t lighting the world on fire. Gibbs may be the most significant loss in the country. If he gets fed there he’s going to be a Heisman finalist.

These days it seems like most transfers, in or out, are guys that turned out to be less talented than originally thought. It’s rare when a known commodity like Gibbs transfers.

Hard to say that definitely when the guys transferring still have 3 & 4 years of eligiblity remaining. Need Collins to live up to the lip service on the developmental program piece. The physical traits are there for all these guys.

Why? We already have 5 on scholarship plus 2 or 3 more walk-on guys. We are running low on spots and need LB's.
I’m hoping Blackstrain and Blackburn do well. I can’t remember who got hurt last year tho.

I think our bigger issue may be that the previous guy had no idea how to utilize TEs effectively. I'd give the new OC a year with the TEs before you go claiming the whole lot is bad. There is ACC-level talent in the room. We may not have anyone to the standard of that UGA TE phenom, but we have capable players who just need to be put in a position to succeed.

I noticed this yesterday. Looks like Rattler, who was a 5 star and the #1 qb coming out of hs, has been dubbed a 4 star now as he heads to Columbia.

Out of the 5 on scholarship + walk ons, how many of our TEs are good enough to contribute for a power 5 team?

We will find out now that we have an OC that actually uses them and is known for coaching them. Either way, we already got one from the portal and I don't see any sure upgrades out there. Bigger needs elsewhere.

We need him to play like a 5 star. Need to crush the gaggers.

It isn’t like we didn’t use TEs. We had a TE on the field 95% of the time with previous OC.

We actually should have used TEs less and focused on more dual RB sets; 4/5 wide sets, etc to get more talented personnel on the field.

We had that TE on the field 95% of the time for blocking also. Taking him off going 2RB or 4/5 wide was just inviting folks into our backfield the last 2 years. Hard to utilize the TE when you have to have him blocking.
