Official Gameday Thread: GT vs Cupcake #1 [1pm/your favorite "streamer"]

Seeing Tech play in a completely empty stadium at Grant Field is about the most depressing thing I could see in the relatively unimportant world of sports. In addition, I am beginning to wonder whether Key doing so well in the last eight games last year was a curse or a blessing. It kept us from completely cleaning house. Did we just rearrange deck chairs on the Titanic? I hope not, but I'm not so sure. And from how empty Grant Field is, I'm not sure the whole thing isn't sadly hopeless. I really hope I'm wrong. But it is the lack of attendance that worries me more than anything else. Very sad.
2.5 hr rain delay against a bad HBCU team. Don't overthink it.

This person has no friends. Must be a Stingtalk mod.

4 crappy seasons, an FCS team, and a 2-hour weather delay will do that.

Wow. Talk about cherry picking a useless observation after a long rain delay.

If you were there it wouldn't be as empty. I think some people probably went home during the delay. If Key starts winning and at least looking good in the losses, the fans will come back; but it will take some time.

OK, so this team has a lot of talent on O. I think we're OK there. WR's go 8 deep, RB's go 3 deep, TE's go 3 deep, and QB's go 3 deep. If the OL can stay healthy this team should be good offensively. ST's are good with the emergence of Birr at PK. The D is another story. That entire unit has to step it up.

SCS had scored 13 pts TOTAL vs 2 FCS teams.I doubt Miss is worried btw-Losing a 1st unit DE from a bad DEF doesn't help.I hopre no one else gothrt.
The crowds will come if there is excitement by a winning team. Looking at 4-8 at this point maybe.

I'm here

Loved what I saw on offense today. Faulkner’s system works. Lots to be excited about with the skill players who transferred in. Running backs are deep and tough.

Defense is a problem. Not sure to what degree with the wonky option stuff today. I suspect it’s going to hurt in conference.

Charlie Thomas covered a lot of flaws with his axiomatic tackling.

Losing depth on an already shallow D-line ain’t good. Hopefully, Kelly is okay.

Re: the crowds. We’ve not filled the stands in 30 years. I was in school for the Calvin days and even then we didn’t fill the stands and constantly complained the student section was poorly attended. Season ticket holder when I lived in Atlanta for CPJ days and same deal then. Not sure what it’ll take for us to fill the stadium with Tech fans, but I don’t think a coach is gonna do it alone. Or a winning season or two.

Huh? You think a crowd is gonna survive a 2 hour storm delay against a pushover opponent? And that’s somehow a reflection on Key? So confusing
exactly .. 2.5 hour delay. i drove down there went to my seats. but i wasn't standing around for 2.5 hrs (or what could have been much longer). i think this lightning delay öööö is ridiculous. just ööööing play the game! i don't mind sitting in the rain one bit but standing around dong nothing, no thanks.

i'm looking forward to Bowling Green. THWG.
