But they will always be at the bottom of the $EC. If Buster wants to get a lucrative OC job or work his way to HC, his best bet is to stay at GT, get a nice pay raise (he will), and keep building on what he has here. He turned our offense into one of, if not the most improved in all of CFB this year. He potentially has 4/5 of the starting OL back, and nearly all of his playmakers back. Next year is a tough schedule but this offense could be very electric, especially if we finally get a healthy Leo Blackburn lining up opposite Singleton. He'd be going back to the drawing board at Arky working for essentially a dead man walking. Also, like others have said, he has a son playing HS football near Assthens and he doesn't want to move his family or be away from them.

The question isn't whether he wants to spend the rest of his career at Arkansas or GT. The question is how can he position himself for an HC or top OC job in two years. The ACC isn't going to die in the next two years.

Would it be better to start completely fresh at Arkansas, who are at the very bottom of the SEC, or stay at GT which is already 4th in the ACC largely thanks to his offense, and has a sophomore QB who is close to setting school records?

I am sure he looks at both GT and Arkansas as stepping stones, as any good coordinator would. Staying with GT seems much more low risk and likely to bear fruit for him personally in a year or two.

The GT offense has everything it needs in place except a short yardage big back. That you can pick up off the portal.

Ark would be a crap shoot and a year 1 restart.

Maybe Buster is overrated and it's just that we have a good QB and talent across the board on offense?

Weinke might be the more important guy. He is the reason for King and seems to be liked & respected by our QBs.

Very true. Weinke did a nice job when Key dumped Long last year and this year helped improve King fundamentally. I think he’s a good coach and very important to our success.

Some of both. We definitely gap schemed the hell out of them and had wide open holes to run thru. King's 2nd TD run he had 2 lead blockers go thru the hole in front of him with nobody to block.

Yea. Just seems like people think Buster was the reason. It was a lot of things - play calling was a piece. But we have players moving bodies off the LOS, sealing edges, playing with great technique. I’ve seen plenty of GT OL that had no chances of moving the dawgs off the line, much less the #1 team for 3 years running, regardless of the playcall.

The players had a huge part of it and nothing is intended to minimize how damned well the offense played.

But Buster had the mutt defense in chaos. I haven’t seen them as confused about what to do since 2008 when Johnson adjusted the spark plug on the option at halftime and blew their single braincells.
 
The Georgia defense was on their heels a lot. That comes from playcalling usually. It really slowed them down as they couldn’t just go to a spot and attack. They had to hesitate.
 
Play calling was good, but OC is more than play calling. There was a reason we could execute the play calls. Our O has been improving (haltingly at times) all season. The whole offense staff deserves credit.

Now we have to fix the defense. And it will probably involve a sizable staff turnover. But we won’t hear anything about that until after our bowl.
 
U[sic]GA is, overall, a much better team than us this season as evidenced by our records.

The fact that we played them so closely required standout efforts from both our players and coaches. Without both of those, we get blown out.

So there's no need to argue about whether the result was due to players or coaches. It was both. And if we can bring both back for next season then it is going to be a wild ride.
