New Football Uniforms

I need to clarify my earlier comments, while I stand by the previous statement about NEW uniforms, the jury is still out as to what uniform Tech will choose.

The one I saw is one of three possible unis we could wear this year. For the traditional folks out there, sorry to say, the three possible jerseys are very modern looking. CPJ said he didn't care, that the final decision is up to the players.

However, when it comes to what CPJ will wear, that is a different story. CPJ will only wear Navy Blue shirts period. I don't know if its chance or by design, but look at where he has coached. GA Southern, he wore navy, at the Naval Academy, he wore navy, at Ga. Tech, he only wears navy.

So again, we will have new uniforms, the only question is the style the players choose.

So were you told the other two are modern because you only saw the one or is just assumption?

I have seen all possible unis we could wear this year. All options are very modern and I don't think we can go wrong with either choice.

Bluegrass, **** off if you're not going to describe them or share pics.

49ers road uni, just replace red with navy, instant awesome uni, old gold and classy

I can understand letting the players decide, but isn't Russell's ultimate objective to make money by making fans say, "I gotta have that." If so, you'd think they'd get feedback from the fans too. But I guess if you give the players three crappy choices then you're gonna get a crappy looking uni.

I doubt we will ever have "traditional" unis again, at least as long as Russell is our supplier. They don't care about us fans, they just want to create a style that is contemporary and appeals to the kids and they feel compelled to mimick the industry leaders whom are all trending toward the video game look. Just look at the popular combat unis last year. I hated them. Video game combat unis have no place on a college football field.

I am afraid you may be right but let me give you a hint of what happens when you change your unis.jThis summer I took the family to see the Yorktown in Charleston. Many older guys were there with the Navy hats etc and all of a sudden the doors opened and guys wearing uniforms were on the gangplank.Nobody knew who they were. The guys and gals has black pants and tan shirts and black caps. Finally somebody told the folks that this was the new NAVY.Now after thirty eight years of service both on active and reserve and Guard duty I was schocked. The old uni called the Cracker Jack was not the new uni.Yes the Cracker Jack is still there but the everyday uni is a combo of black pants and a Marine tan shirt.

Needless to say this was not popular with the older guys since it was not the service they had fought in in the past.I would bet you the next time they could contribute to Naval Relief Fund etc they hestiated since they didnt feel part of the new Navy. Now young guys may like Oregon and VPI and Miami and the Bengals but bet you when it gets time to contribute to the school old guys are still upset about taking tradition and putting it on the shelf.I would hope PJ does something about it but from what I have heard he only gives to the team the uni that Russell Southern designs. One day I hope we get back to the older and more traditional unis.Just my two cents.

That is sad, Mack. I wonder if its all a part of trying to recruit today's youth. Is this a dress uniform you're destribing or everyday? Do the elisted guys still where dungarees and the round cover?

Here's the uni you speak of:

Are these just winter uniforms? They look just like the old navy officer winter uniforms with black pants instead of khaki.

Holy ****, we've become entangled with the uniform struggles of a completely disjoint entity.

Me, I just think our uniform needs MORE gold. I prefer the imposing visage of a team unified by a bold Old Gold color, personally. Modern or traditional doesn't really matter, it just needs some easily observable identifying element.

Many of y'all may know from the OT board that I can be a reactionary conservative. I like our old uniforms. BUT GT needs all the help it can get. I have no problem being the Oregon of the southeast if it comes with the recruiting and winning like they are getting.

I understand your point but mine is we win with the old unis and we still get recruits.I just cant see a BAMA or USC or LSU or AUBURN or even FLA or TENN saying to a kid now if you cme to tech you can wear .........what you want to.Funny to me that the great traditional schools have not given in to ultra modern football jerseys for moon walkers.
