Spring game.

We are looking at starting our 3rd string quarterback from last year, lost our two (hands down) best defensive players, and start probably the worst right tackle in college football. The weather isn't everything that hurt attendance. The fact that we are going to suck balls this year also had something to do with it.

So basically another 7 win season and a craptastic bowl.

Yay.

You have no idea how good Byerly can be. Hell, I thought we were doomed when Goose took over for Joe.

This years defense will be better than last year. You do realize that players graduate don't you?

Byerly and Laskey are strong, old-fashioned, punch-you-in-gut, and drag-a-few-guys-for-a-couple-extra-yards kind of runners. With some speed and flash from the AB's, we would be fine. Byerly also throws pretty well. The critics have probably not seen him play.

Ha! Remember that. Godsey looked just like a goose with no clue at first. Had a really bad feeling about that dude and SHAZAAM!! guy just took over. Still pretty amazed.

Byerly calls Dewberry to mind for some reason. Guy may not play but he's no quirk. He's for real. And good point upstream about Tevin.

It will be a "muddle-on" season with our lack of depth at some spots making injuries maybe the key factor.

Laskey showed good hands and speed in the scrimmage. Byerly is going to be fine in this offense. I've never seen JT run the offense that smooth in 2 years.

I agree with 33jacket. Byerly ran the offense well. Made very good reads, ran with toughness, and is quick. To dismiss him because he was 3rd string last year is just dumb. The D was very aggressive, with a lot of blitzes, which coupled with the conditions made it tough. We went years winning only more than 7 games once, and now people act like we're so far off? I don't get it. I know CPJ isn't warm and fuzzy so he gets no benefit of the doubt. I think we are gonna be fine.

Just started watching the spring game on ESPN3. Butker just kicked his 54 yarder.

Things I've noticed so far:

* Roddy provides pretty decent color commentary / analysis
* Roddy was wearing a Galaxy Gear 2 in the booth (I work for Samsung, so I noticed it)
* These uniforms are probably the ugliest yet. Please tell me these are not the 2014 unis!!!
* I was disappointed to not see any JT play. I think Roddy said he was out with a bruised shoulder.

Just reading the comments. Have you guys watched any of the spring game or just making öööö up because Byerly is our third string qb from last year? The guy is tough, makes good reads, decent arm and always fighting for that extra yard. He's not your super star that will break an 80 yard run but he's getting those 4-5 yards and breaking for 10-15. He's consistent, and not afraid. That's more than we can say about any qb we've had since Nesbitt. Put him behind an OL that's doing better than last year's, he's going to be the best qb we've had under CPJ. And here's another thing. I'm not worried about Byerly taking a hit and sitting out for the rest of the season.

I'm not going to make a prediction for the season, I just think we're in for some pleasant surprises with Byerly under center and Laskey behind him.

JT got injured during scrimmage and missed the spring game. What do y'all think Miami, Clemson, uga, or even Southern DLine's gonna do to him when our oline breaks in spectacular fashion and he's running for his life. I really don't see him as the starter in this offense in the fall and if he is I will be very worried about him getting injured.

Were the fumbles at least caused by the defense? I know I was really disappointed in how few turnovers we created last season perhaps it's been a point of emphasis this spring.
