Conference Expansion is Back

There was a reason we didn't already add uconn or cincy. They are dumb and their people are dumb. I am shocked that we let LOU in, them being tarded themselves. Guess the $ made that decision.

Agree that we only expand if there is another P5 school in the mix. But with academic standards, it would almost have to be Vandy or someone from the B1G. Maryland makes sense geographically, but öööö them, hahahaha terps, peace out.

Dump ND for Cincy.

Good call.

Not what I was saying or meant to say.

Why not go after one or both until ND joins? I know ND brings in a lot of money in football, which the ACC doesn't get and they get our share from other sports (mainly basketball). I thought the Big East was stupid for doing that and see what happen.

I guess the best thing is to hold tight and let the chips fall where they may as @GT1992 said.

Don't you think NBC and ND would figure something out? Another Florida school makes zero sense. It is best to just sit tight and not add crap like the Big XII is doing. Their television partners are already complaining about the proposed additions. We are in good shape with our current contract. No reason to mess that up.

This.

ND is never gonna join. We made sure of them by supplying them 5 Acc teams to play with every season without having to become a full member.

ND is a win/win. They bring a bunch of eyes to FB as well as other sports. Who knows? They may have to join, if they miss the CFB playoffs to a conference team with the same record.

UofL has a ton of cash and signed a blood oath that they would use that to improve academics. They did not. As a result, the president was fired and GT has administrators in Louisville basically running the school. I wouldn't be surprised if one became the next President of UofL.

Tulane would meet the academic standards and brings a new market, but they'll be available at any time. Until ND commits, we are fine.

Does it or does it not benefit the SEC to have both major schools in a state under their umbrella? If not, would Auburn and Miss St join the ACC? If so, would FSU, GT, and Clemson join the SEC?

GT would be in the SEC had Dodd not ööööed up. Auburn, Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt are lifetime members of the SEC and are going nowhere.

Dodd did the right thing by leaving after both the Chick Granning incident as well as Bryant leading the charge against player integration. Disappointing that you're incorrectly calling him out.

You wanna blame someone for Tech leaving the $EC? Blame Paul Bryant.

Yea, instead of working from within and continuing the struggle, we pitched a fit, took our ball and went home. The changes came despite Bear Bryant. We suffered terribly for decades afterward. At the end of the day, we tried to go back. Instead of us, they put lipstick on a pig and grabbed a big cock in Arkansas and South Carolina. Some stand!

Who's to say the $EC culture wouldn't have changed us? If the cost of doing the right thing and not paying players, being a football factory, bogus majors, etc. is not having as good of a football team, then so be it. If you want those things, there are 14 teams in the $EC you can cheer for.

And PS - all that "suffering" got us a national title in 1990. More recent title than over half the $EC (Missy State, Ole Miss, Vandy, UK, Arky, Mizzou, USCe, dwags, A&M).

College football changed. The SEC changed with it. We were painfully mediocre all through the 1970's and 1980's and the 1990's. We had a few bright spots with a supernova in 1990. Georgia started administering our regular beatings just about the time we left the SEC. They were smart enough to not let us back in the SEC. They knew our potential. Now we are stuck in a lesser league. Ask most players where they see themselves playing and many say "I am an SEC type player". There is no great groundswell to be an ACC player unless it is in roundball.

Yet from an academic standpoint, the ACC is seen as vastly superior and people around the country think more of us than the Dawg fans you would have us be.

I'd rather be in our position in the ACC versus being another Vanderbilt in the SEC.

Truth is, we don't know if we would have had the continued academic or athletic success had we remained in the SEC. What we do know is that given our overall size, budget, and scholastic focus, Vanderbilt is the only SEC school to which we really can compare. We belong in the ACC if for nothing other than fit with our peers.

I know I'm :deadhorse: but the media has changed the perception for pre-college players. I remember when the media/announcers/etc. would say "like a NFL team" but over the last few years it changed to "like a SEC team" or "like Alabama." Alabama and others in the SEC are like NFL teams but they don't reference it like that anymore. So the players with NFL aspirations just assume they have to go to Alabama or another SEC school. Which isn't wrong, but FSU, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Miami, Stanford, etc. can put you in the NFL too. Maybe a few of those are bad examples based on offense style, but the point remains, they don't compare good college teams to NFL, they say SEC/Bama.
