CPJ cant manage a close game

Not kicking the field goal was pretty idiotic. You take the 3 and go up 14 at the half. Every time unless you’re playing Alcorn. It was almost as bad as the fake punt against Pitt.

Other than that, CPJ called a good game. He had to start TQ just because he was named team captain. That’s over and done with now.

He needs to get this team to a bowl game to get his program headed back in the right direction.

Only a pussy kicks a field goal when you’ve got fourth and short on the goal line. Criticizing Paul Johnson for not taking the points is criticizing him for being a real man, because you’re a soy boy beta cuck.

You should show me, via some different pedagogical technique, how to sharpen them. It's *your job* to figure out what I'm missing and correct it. Throwing up your hands because you've tried all the techniques that you know of, or that you think *ought* to be sufficient, is an abdication of your duty. Unless there's some hidden variable between the kind of player we recruit and the tendency to fumble, concluding that we've done all we can do is obviously wrong.

You missed a real opportunity to suggest that it may be time to stop using pencils. No one uses pencils any more, and perhaps the only people you can find willing to sharpen pencils are people who will break 1 in 30 at best.

Disagree. Going for it on 4th there is part of our team identity, and I would've been pissed if we had kicked it. We were dominating them all day with power runs - no reason to give up 4 points there.

The Pitt fake punt was just a whole other level of dumb and was indefensible. Not comparable at all, IMO.

The only thing UNC did well all game on defense was stop plays up the middle. We didn’t need 6 to make it a two TD lead. To each his own but I really hated the call. CPJ even admitted he F’d up!

... except the 4th and 3 Jerry coverted on the way to a TD.

I think some forget how many scores we have from drives where we converted on 4th.

And neither is the distribution of talent.

Every kid that plays football can tell you HOW to carry the football so that it can’t be ripped from you. And yet there are fumbles.

Has nothing to do with coaching and everything to do with execution or lack thereof.
You know what they say, practice makes perfect. So, the kids KNOW what to do. It's the coaches' job to get them in the habit of doing it. Run them through drills until it doesn't have a chance of happening. Make them do pushups every time you see the ball insecure. I mean, ffs, our BBacks need to at least carry it high and tight through the line unlike the bread loaf öööö we have been seeing. That's what coaching can do to fix it. That being said, there are some players who are simply fumble prone and some who will never fumble (dwyer), no matter how much you coach them. Part of it is instinct on when to cover it up and go to ground, part is strength.

That was my point.

This might be the dumbest sh!t I’ve heard all year. You should always take the points in that situation.

Just like you should always kick the FG to tie at the end of regulation.

Not to mention our kicker isn’t exactly automatic and UNC has shown no real ability to stop us 4 plays in a row at that time. Being inflexible is something people criticize CPJ for and yet you want him to be inflexible on kicking a FG to have a meaningless lead increase from 11 (two possessions and more than a FG + TD + PAT) to 14 (two possessions 2 TD’s + PAT’s). The football world is changing with respect to going for it and going for two etc. don’t get caught being a dinosaur. It was a fine spot to gamble both strategically and in context. It just didn’t work out.

He allowed himself to admit it was a bad call because we won. Had he been the defeated HC at his presser, he would have defended the call enthusiastically.

Yes. There was nothing that showed so far that UNC would have stopped us.
