2022 Recruiting

#28 recruiting class so far with 16 commits. When is the last time we had a class finish in the top 25? Not reevaluated into the top 25, but actually finished to 25.

Collins' first full class was ranked 24 on rivals and 27 on 247, I believe, as of signing day. Prior to that, you gotta go back to 2007, I think.

Where do we fall out with the average stars reranking?

Am I crazy to speculate that we won't be taking a large class this year?

I’ve been thinking the same thing about class size. It’s curious. I think we might be entering a stage of holding out and taking transfers. Which I’m not against but at the same time building up the young guys into a system is way better.

However we might be holding out. We’ve got a lot of good o line and d line recruits, may be holding out for Azareyeh Thomas.

@GoGATechyou, you may not know but didn’t Gibbs and Sims commit very close to signing day?

Gibbs committed back in May 2019 for the Feb2020 signing class.

Sims committed either on or just before early signing day. He decommitted from FSU 12/11/19.

Gibbs was committed to GT in May of 2019. He never de-committed but his recruitment went down to the wire all the way to the 2nd signing day in February 2020. He took his 4 OV's in January of 2020. Ohio State, LSU, and Florida tried hard to flip him but he stuck with GT and Tashard Choice.

Sims was committed to FSU (and Willie Taggart) since February 2019. Taggart got fired in November, and Mike Norvell was hired Dec 8th. Rumor has it that Norvell either met with Sims or had a call with him and they discussed Norvell's offense and how Jeff would be used. For whatever reason, Sims decided to part ways with Norvell and FSU and de-committed on Dec 11th. Sims then committed to and signed with GT on Dec 18th. (BTW, he OV'd to GT in late November when FSU did not have a head coach yet.)

I have a buddy on the inside at F$U - it was closer than close. My buddy indicated at the time that losing Sims to us was devastating. Then to have Sims beat them as a freshman on their own field...

From what I remember, it seems like Norvell didn't think Sims was a good fit for his offense and told Sims that, but also that he would not pull his offer and he could still come if he wanted to, but may not see the field much because he didn't fit the scheme. Sims decided to part ways with FSU and the FSU fans were pretty hot at Norvell about that right out of the gate. For one, I think they were correct to be mad about it, and two, the way he is using Jordan Travis, how in the hell would Sims not be a good fit for him? He must be insane.

Sounds like the kind of story fans make up to justify a flip.
