2023 Recruiting

Has anyone noticed Wille Fitz recruiting class at 71 and Chadwell at Liberty 100 Coastal Carolina 114.Deion is at 47.
I'd be severely worried if Tulane or Liberty were out recruiting GT. A 1-11 team with a coaching change in Boulder, CO out recruiting us does suck though.

This Eric Singleton guy we stole… yeah he’s gonna be really good

His highlight reel is pretty awesome for being 5-10 goes up for ball great and has great vision and breakaway with ball in his hand

Thats the flash and the NIL money of Deion but at end of day that will only last so long. He's still got to prove he can win consistently at this level if it goes well then yeah he will continue to recruit well but this not mutually exclusvise to them. If we over next 2-3 seasons get back to that 8+ wins we will start having better recruiting results as well.

Considering all of the Deion hype and the NIL money that he has available, his recruiting haul is pretty underwhelming. This level recruiting for him is not going to blow out the PAC like he was able to do with the SWAC. Considering how much CU spent on him and staff and how much is spent on NIL, it’s not a great return so far, at least on recruiting rankings.

Moreover, Deion has willfully saddled himself to his own son at QB. Announced him as starter before ever running one practice in Boulder. It's a rather brazen push to elevate Shedeur's draft potential. That can backfire bigly now that Shedeur has to face stiff competition.

It's easy to imagine a scenario where Shedeur runs out of eligibility and Prime Time stops caring and sucks his way to being bought out at 75% of remaining @ $6M/yr.

It’s like a dad coaching his child’s football team until his kid is in high school then the dad never coaches again?

Exactly. Out of the gate this has the makings of an unmitigated disaster. Already rich helicopter dad with a cult level ego comes into a major P5 program in shambles and strutting in like some kind of messianic figure proclaiming "he is coming" and is gonna try to run off half the team in the process because he already has better replacements that he actually doesn't have. An already underfunded athletic department now burdened with a giant contract to match his giant ego and a relative thud of an initial recruiting class. This team is going to struggle for several years AT BEST and Deion is going to have to sell the sh*t out of it or it's going to be the most glorious hiring failure in P5 football history. I wouldn't want to be Charles Kelly or Sean Lewis right now.

The only saving grace is UCLA and USC are leaving the conference

Deion has to come up with a new sales pitch. In the SWAC his recruiting pitch included some schtick about the legacy of Black College Football. In Colorado he can't use that. Those who bought that race baiting pitch are now stranded back at Jackson State while he has moved on. Some recruits at Colorado may buy into the flash and circus; but he needs to win quickly to keep that hype fest going. I think it will be easier to recruit against him at Colorado than he was in the SWAC. It is easier to recruit against him because you don't have tiptoe around him as much out of fear of being labeled as anti-HBCU and a bigot.
