That’s not how that works. Its divided up geographically with exceptions as sensible. Why wouldn't Coleman be the primary recruiter for defensive linemen?

GT should be using the Portal for proven DL’s. Worked with Keon White. Unfortunately GT lost Solomon Byrd to USC after Byrd committed to GT.DL are the personnel we need most and that's where our decommitments are happening. Great
Solomon Byrd
Proven DLs are leaving Tech and/or getting poached to bigger teams. Keon White was a converted TE that had 1 good year at ODU, and we took a chance on him. Of course, he turned out to be a star.GT should be using the Portal for proven DL’s. Worked with Keon White. Unfortunately GT lost Solomon Byrd to USC after Byrd committed to GT.
Safer bet to get 2 a year from the Portal who have performed at the FBS level vs 3-5 guesses coming from the HS ranks. You still take 2+ a year from HS (based on need), but the Portal is the route to go in order to fill-in the gaps.
Uh, he had a great year at ODU.Proven DLs are leaving Tech and/or getting poached to bigger teams. Keon White was a converted TE that had 1 good year at ODU, and we took a chance on him. Of course, he turned out to be a star.
The talent on the DL at USC isn’t the issue. It’s the piss poor coaching / scheme under DC Grinch. Byrd as a backup last year made an impact and as a starter this year is leading the team as you mentioned in sacks (5), 6th in tackles (24) with 3 FF’s. He would have been a day 1 starter at GT in 2022.does have 5 sacks but given how God awful their D is he is not much of a difference maker
SOMEBODY is going to get sacks for a team, even the bad ones.
This second guy is a 3 star. Those are interchangeable. It is not good for anybody to leave us but we will probably backfill with someone else just as serviceable OR use the opening for a transfer.
All the ones that aren’t coming here for a higher education. How many decommit this week?
Lol. It’s funny you think any of them care about that. All the ones that aren’t coming here for a higher education.
Just saying. With your point I should’ve said good commits.Lol. It’s funny you think any of them care about that.
How many decommit this week?
I hope none! How many decommit this week?
No you can't.May I remind you knuckleheads that some of our best recruiting classes came on the heels of some of our worst seasons.
At ODU was the main point in my comment. Not a lot of players that are successful in G5 turn into superstars in P5.Uh, he had a great year at ODU.
How much do recruiting classes really matter anymore for us in terms of being great vs average? Any player we get out of high school that's great is unlikely to give us more than a year of it.May I remind you knuckleheads that some of our best recruiting classes came on the heels of some of our worst seasons.
We should just hold them hostage via grades or something. How much do recruiting classes really matter anymore for us in terms of being great vs average? Any player we get out of high school that's great is unlikely to give us more than a year of it.
