What challenges? We are using NIL like a champ. Get the big uglies on the OLine and let the primma donna wide receivers waste money elsewhere. As for the portal, Haynes King has been a HUGE part of getting The Wreck out of the ditch (see ND graphic) and he is a portal guy. GT should be thankful every day for the portal and NIL.
I agree the portal giveth and taketh away. I think it's a close call about it's overall effect. I think overall it's been good for the offense and bad for our defense. We've lost some excellent defensive players the last few years.
I wonder if the negative effect on the defense is a systemic issue, bad luck, or a bad job by staff on retention. Higher demand for DL across college football means they get higher offers we can't match?
