21st Head Coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

WE DON'T. My God how stupid can you be? Your recent postings here have been nothing but counter-productive to the site, to the fan base, to the team. We need all the fans we can get at GT but ones like you I can do without.
I lived through the Bill Lewis era, I can promise you we will live through the Geoff Collins "Elite Clown Show, 404, Waffle House, W.I.N.21" era. Have your forget what GT Boosters have said? We are in the END GAME it is just a matter of time! Remember that CPJ was wining 7 games, so the Geoff Collins was suppose to take Georgia Tech to the "national conversation" level, however it hasn't happened instead Geoff collins has wrecked the Ramblin wreck!

It is public record in the AJC.

From the Interviews:
Before Georgia Tech began its 2021 season, Steve Zelnak and Gregg Garrett shared optimism about the Yellow Jackets’ season ahead. Their perspective was worth listening to for at least a few reasons. Both are Golden Jackets, the highest honor given to athletic-department donors, supporters whose lifetime cash gifts are $1 million or more. They also have been avid observers of the Jackets. Further, their financial support has granted them access to coach Geoff Collins and insights not readily available to the general fan base. Their history of significant giving also means that they know well Tech’s football hurdles and aren’t given to wild expectations. And, as the first kickoff drew near, both men decreed that, in Collins’ third season, after back-to-back three-win seasons, it was time for the Jackets to win. Zelnak said that “we ought to win six or seven.” Garrett likewise set the bar at six wins, recognizing that a lesser record was acceptable if the Jackets played well but were victims of breaks against them. Both donors’ standards were set in part from guidance they received from Collins himself.

After the Georgia Tech 2021 season ended:
“I look at the program, and it’s in the worst place I’ve ever seen it,” said Zelnak, who graduated from Tech in 1969. Zelnak said he was not for or against removing Collins, whose return for a fourth season was confirmed by Stansbury last week. “My big question mark is why is (defensive coordinator Andrew) Thacker still here?” he said. “My understanding is that Collins commented to a GTAA senior staff-level guy that he wanted to keep Thacker because Thacker knew the defense.” “So my question is, what defense?” he asked. “(A fourth season) gives him a chance to show if he can get it done,” Zelnak said. “It also reduces the buyout by a year. If he gets it done, terrific. If he doesn’t, we’re going to have to deal with it.”

Garrett, a Tech fan since the 1970s, called the season disappointing, frustrating and unacceptable. “We have some good student-athletes,” he said. “Just could not help them from a coaching standpoint reach their potential. And maybe one of the most frustrating parts about it was that, as the season went on, we seemed to get worse, and that’s saying a lot when you start off the year losing to Northern Illinois.” “If you win four, five, six games next year, that’s probably what you are,” he said. “The rebuild’s over. It kind of is what it is now. If we want to compete for the Coastal Division, (if) we want to get this program to the next level, how do you win six games, or even seven games, in your fourth year?” “I think the fact that Todd has linked his career at Georgia Tech to Geoff’s success – and I think that’s really important to know that he did that – is a positive because certainly it indicates that the administration is all in with this working and willing to accept the consequences if it doesn’t,” Garrett said. Garrett said he did see Stansbury’s further employment at Tech being contingent on the success of Collins’ own tenure. “That’s certainly the way I see it,” Garrett said. “Didn’t he say, ‘I’ve got my man’? He’s got his man. He’s going to have to ride him.”

Absolutely zero of what you just posted says that we will be coach shopping next offseason. If anything, it says that we won't if we see marked improvement. Also, CPJ wasn't "winning 7 games". There was a 3 win and 5 win season mixed in there when expectations were high. I would say the 2015 3 win season by CPJ was worse than the 2021 3 win season by CGC. Sure we hoped and expected to win more, but we apparently haven't figured it out yet coming out of the transition, but CPJ had been around for years by 2015, had his system in place, had his guys, and still crapped the bed after an 11 win season and finishing in the top 10 in AP.

I hear you. But no GT fan owes Collins anything. GT paid him $3 million per win. If Collins loved and supported GT as much as you, he would have turned in a resignation letter after 100-0 scores last 2 games of the season.
I agree no GT fan owes Collins anything. But we owe his TEAM - OUR team - our support and best wishes. Not lobbying for replacing their coach before the season even starts - especially since he is definitely not going anywhere in the immediate future. This entire thread presumes a ööööty season ahead, and almost hopes for it so the coach will be replaced.

Probably Collins didn't resign because he believes and is determined to turn this thing around. It seems to me like at least he is trying this off-season to do that.

Anyway, I do not give one öööö whether Collins loves GT or not. That is not his job. Did Lincoln Riley "love" Oklahoma? Apparently not, but he sure did win a lot of games there. Collins' job is not to "love" GT. I love GT - and that is all that matters to me. Collin's job is to win games. And I'm hoping he does a helluva job of it in 2022.

I'm going to go ahead and say it. To all recruits, if you want to play football at GT, it is best that you base your decision on the school and not the coach. If you haven't had your head buried in the sand you'll know that there is a good chance coach may not be back next season.
Go öööö yourself, asshole. Why wouldn't he be back? Only if those recruits and their teammates fail this year. Stop presuming failure for Tech football.

Hasn't Geoff Collins had three season? 9 wins later and you want me to wait for him to produce a CPJ type of team that could win the ACC or go to an OB? Do you think Bill Lewis deserved more time on the FLATS?
No. We want you to kindly STFU for now.

Frank Beamer's first six seasons at Virginia Cow College:

2-9
3-8
6-4-1
6-5
5-6
2-8-1

Zero bowl appearances.

His next 19 seasons? A bowl game every single year, seven top ten finishes, 13 double-digit win seasons, and a 185-58 record.

Let's see first whether the patient lives or dies before we start planning his funeral, huh? December is only six months away.

I agree with that! I am hopeful that the new Clemson QB is a game changer and will be given a chance to save the coaches job!

As an independent playing a crappy schedule, with no bowl appearance - in fact none in six years! And you mosdef would have fired him after he reverted to 2-8-1 in his sixth season. RIGHT before he turned everything around. Probably I would have, too. But what I wouldn't have done is publicly speculate about who to replace him just a couple of months before the next season started - a season where he would go 9-3 and finish ranked 20th in the country. Which probably few Turkey fans saw coming, either.

No, I did not see improvement last year. And I'm not saying Collins will turn out to be Frank Beamer - I'm just saying you never know. But he is my coach for 2022, and nothing you or I post here is going to change that at this point. So I'm sure as hell not going to start preaching his funeral at this point.

I'd love to know what stansbury thinks is acceptable but with some already appeasing down to 5 or 6, I sure hope he doesn't do the Neville Chamberlain routine again.

Three more years!
Three more years!

Look at year 3... 6-4-1.. You get see improvement... Did you see improvement last year?
Did they change from an option style offense and have to completely turn the roster over when he got there?

Tulane - W 65–10
No. 8 Notre Dame - L 22–30
Duke - L 20–34
North Carolina - L 31–38

Pittsburgh - L 28–31
No. 9 Florida State - W 22–16
Virginia - L 21–27
Virginia Tech L 21–23
Miami (FL) L 21–38

Miami (FL) - L 30–33
Boston College - L 30–41
No. 8 Notre Dame - L 0–55
No. 1 Georgia- L 0–45

Call me crazy but it appears that the 2015 Georgia Tech team was more competitive in games than the 2021 Georgia Tech team as 7 losses were by 8 or less points and their Total Offense & Defense rankings support that.

FSU stuck with Bowden in early some tough times too.
But the landscape has changed dramatically since then, thanks to TV and money, and TV money.
Very few coaches are getting that kind of time anymore without at least getting to a bowl, and there are oodles more bowls now than when Beamer and Bowden took over VPI and FSU.
Hell, even Temple has already moved on from CGC's successor there.

I was quite for 3 seasons. Its time for the Geoff Collins supporters who are asking folks to shut up to admit that this crap is not working! Time to call a spade a spade! There should be a forum for healthy debate. To think that Geoff Collins is the next Bobby Bowden or Frank Beamer is just ridiculous.

You can support Geoff Collins, no problem! I should be able to highlight young coaches who have a history of winning that the GTAA should look at.

I'm not one to call for the coach's head or speculate on the next hire until at least mid season if Tech is 1-5 or 2-4 (even then there will be some on here that will be "he can turn it around guys", like they haven't seen what has happened in the last three and a half seasons), but I believe chances are higher than 50/50 that this could be the end. Please forgive me for coming to such a logical conclusion based on what I've seen in the last 3 years. And for all you guys that are comparing him to Bobby Bowden or Frank Beamer what have you seen in the last 3 years that makes you think this guy can coach at even close to that level? So this whole thread is probably premature but damn some of y'all are getting in your panties in a wad.

Were you born a whiny little bitch or did you have to take classes?
Who the hell is a "Collins supporter"? I'm a GT supporter. You claim to be but I'll be damn if your posts support that fact. Go pull for the mutts. You'll be happier and so will everyone else around here.
