21st Head Coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Your statement is true for the 2021 class only. In late 2021 247 started an overall ranking that includes transfers and avoids the 20+ issue.
There's no indication they will ever go back to overall rank the 2021 class so we're stuck with a less than complete ranking for 21.
As you suggest it does improve when the transfers are included...We went from 53rd to 43rd.
but that's still mediocre IMHO.
It's not a 1-1 replacement though. I don't know what it is, but they apparently have a wonky formula for adding the transfers because our transfer additions would have moved ranking much more than 10 spots had they been high school recruits with the same ranking.

But do we KNOW he will be fired? I have no idea how many games we'll win this year but if we win 5 or 6, with this schedule, I doubt he is fired, TBH.

And you don't KNOW that either, despite all your rambling assertions. When/if the time comes to send him packing, have at it with your remarks but you ain't helping things, regardless of what you might think.

Wasn't 80% of the ST reason for keeping him that we couldn't afford to fire him yet? I know TStan is keeping him 1 more year and will decide based on his on-field performance, but if the fans have already written him off as just waiting for the inevitable, speculation about that inevitable is going to be plentiful. Sure, he may survive this season, but if the main positives we can find for the team are speculation about the next coach and the positves that coach can build on then we shouldn't piss on that parade either. We're just looking for an upgrade if it exists.

2015 was disappointing coming off the high of 2014, but I’d take that over 2021 coming off another 3 win season.

Plus, the 2015 team was really snakebit by injuries and still lost some close ones and had a signature win. That team would mop the floor with 2021, which still looked lost on the field and on the sidelines at times.

JRjr

The 2015 team also kept most games close and beat FSU. It's really not a comparison to the GCG teams who haven't beaten anyone comparable.

maybe formula but i think it's more likely due to the transfers being reranked and not using the HS rankings.
the ones that haven't played much usually have a lower rating than from HS.
our QB from Akron went up a lot so its a mixed bag

Ezzard, Clayton and the kid from Old Dominion (can't remember the name) came in with lots of fanfare and bravado and made NO difference to our success. The lineman he took his first year from Vandy (Soders?) Was one of the poorest O Lineman that I have ever seen at GT. Collins has had ample time to make us better than we are. He just isn't getting the job done.
Ezzard and Clayton were busts. No argument there. Keion White from ODU made no difference because he injured his leg in offseason summer workouts before he ever made it on campus. He played very little because of that. He is expected to be the starting DE this fall. Southers from Vandy wasn't that great but OL, specifically OT, was a huge need and he was apparently better than the CPJ holdovers he was playing ahead of because it got worse when he came out. The rest of the transfers have contributed and are moving in to larger roles now.

2019
Tyler Davis - started at TE every game, didn't get much action because we had to use TE for blocking more than anything.
Myles Sims - has been used plenty at CB so far, and is projected to start at CB this fall
Clayton, Ezzard, Southers - spoken about above.

2020
Derrik Allen - has played a good bit at safety and will be in the mix to start there this fall
Ryan Johnson - started RG for 2 seasons and did well, nothing spectacular but ok.
Devin Cochran - transfer credit issue and wasn't able to join the team until 2021 but started every game at LT and was the highest graded OL we had per PFF.

2021
Nick Pendley - started at G his first 2-3 games, was one of the top 2 linemen on the field and had a career ending injury
Kevin Harris - highly praised during camp, didn't produce much on the field yet but had a couple flashes. This was only his 2nd college season and was making a position change from Alabama. I expect him to be in the rotation much more this fall.
Makius Scott - played a little bit last year but mainly because we had enough depth ahead of him as his first year in the program. He will play more this fall, and likely competing for a starting DT spot.
Kyric McGowan - started every game at slot receiver and was by far the best receiver on the team.
Ace Eley - started every game at LB, #2 on team in tackles. Wasn't all-conference or anything but solid.
Brent Cimaglia - much better than the kicking we had the prior 2 years
Kenneth Kirby - was expected to make a push to start over Williams at RT but was an experienced LT and couldnt' get the footwork down so was relegated to 2nd LT, and Cochran seldom was out. Kirby was also injured for a good part of the season.
Trad Beatty - was never expected to be anything more than an emergency QB

2022
Don't know how any of these will pan out yet but here are the projectons:
Luke Benson - speedy TE with good hands should get much PT due to Long's use of TE's
Taisun Phommachanh - quality backup that can also push Jeff in practice
Ahmari Harvey - should get in the mix at safety and be starter level in a couple years
Khari Gee - same as Harvey
Eric Reed Jr. - same as above but at CB spot
KJ Wallace - DB depth, probably won't play much yet
Kenny Bennett - DB depth, probably won't play much yet
Dylan McDuffie - projected to be the #1 "bruiser" type RB
Corey Robinson - quality backup on OL with starting potential
RJ Adams - quality backup on OL with starting potential
EJ Jenkins - grad transfer tall receiver that can provide an outside threat. Can also play TE.
Christian Burkhalter - DE depth, likely won't play much yet

Again you are presenting a hypothetical as fact and saying that it is "clear" that team would beat 2021 GT. Not so sure about that one either. You think 2015 GT would beat the 2021 GT team that showed up in the Benz and beat UNC?

Absolutely 100%. We just got a lucky punch in on UNC.

Yes I know they have been re-ranked but they also did not carry as much weight as a HS with the same rating is what I'm saying. I don't know how they do it but if all those were high school kids with the same ratings as our transfers, our team ranking would have been much higher.

Do you need a safe space to go cry? But he's ooooooour cooooooooach. That doesn't mean he should be. Maybe You ARE He since he hides on Social. Participation Tropies are in the back of the line
This is some hardcore bbuzzoff öööö.

A lucky punch is winning a game you aren't supposed to. We dominated that game. Our DL made their OL give up. Howell was running for his life most of the time. We had a great game plan and executed it.

None of these people are going to acknowledge any fact or stat which does not lend itself to their narrative. We have had three wins per year to try to enjoy, and it isn't good enough for these guys that there are nine losses shedding grim light on the state of our program; the wins must be bad and fake, too. As they see it, if they can't have their way then nobody should be able to enjoy anything.

McGowan we agree on...he has been good. I just find it hard to give accolades to the O Linemen you mention when that unit has been so bad and we win 3 games a year. The question is, have they really made a difference? We can disagree and I respect your opinion. I simply see another bad year on the horizon and as stated before, believe that Collins should have us better than we are. If he wins 7 games this year, even in a weak Coastal Division, I'll come back and apologize.

Horsecrap.
I'm old enough to remember how much the fanbase wanted Bobby Ross gone, too. Then he had a good second half of the year in 1989 and everyone stopped complaining. Then we won the NC in 1990 and suddenly, all of those detractors were like "I knew he was the right guy all the time".

Not saying Collins is anywhere near that level of coaching. But winning cures all ills.

LOL. Wahhh....daddy, the internet man said mean things about me. Make him stop.
Moron.

We were, as I recall, underdogs against UNC (“not supposed to win”), and we did dominate them in a totally unexpected way that we didn’t repeat against anybody else on the schedule. We apparently took them by surprise by playing Sims (or so they said). That game, while a good win, wasn’t in any way indicative of the trajectory of the 2021 team. It was an outlier, a confluence of events in our favor. That’s the point I’m making.

And now you've made it without ööööting all over the only good moment we all got from that nightmare.

That is fair. I really don't know how much of a difference they have made, but if they are beating out guys that were already on the roster, and it does seem like we would get even worse (how possible, I don't even know) when they would be out of the game. It's extremely fair to see another bad year on the horizon and I agree that is a likely possibility, but unlike some, I'm just not going to start a debate or discussion right now about who should or shouldn't be the next HC when we do have this year still to play out.

Garbage.

Really good reasons for that--nobody wants to hear excuses, but that squad was ravaged by injuries. Even still, that team didn't quit and wasn't getting blown out. Quick, what did the '14 & '16 teams do?
Were we ravaged by injuries by week 3 when we got beat down by Notre Dame? You can say all you want about the final score but you are kidding yourself if you think we were ever in that game and everybody knows it. We scored twice in the final minute to make it an 8 point game. It was 30-7 with a minute left. Or what about the very next week when we scored two touchdowns on Duke? Or the next when we blew a 21 point lead to UNC? GTFOH with that. Also, we werent't getting blown out for 2 reasons: The option limited opponents possession, and Clemson could play pick the score pretty much from 2015-on but didn't because Dabo and CPJ were friends.

Correct--ND was a thorough beatdown, they dominated the line of scrimmage. UNC game turned on the Gostis garbage, but was disappointing. That Clemson team played for the Nat'l title. The 2015 team (6 of the losses by one score or less) was his worse year and injuries did pay a large part in that. Still, that team did manage a win over a top 10 FSU. Again, how did the '14 and '16 teams do?

Hey, maybe CGC can turn things around and notch a victory over a team with a winning record this season.
