9 wins out of 30

So the Offense that everyone pines for and literally yearns for, is so "mercurial" that it is only good enough to go 1-4 vs Duke Teams that average 7.67 wins per year.

That doesn't sound like a great system, and the Guy running it doesn't sound like an Offensive Genius either.

Hmmmmm?
In the same timeframe we went 4-1 against VT after having a 1-4 record prior. So we won some and we lost some. Against Duke, we didn't really get a lot out of our defense either.

Was Taquon forced upon CPJ , or did CPJ Recruit him?

CPJ was notorious for Recruiting Players that "are good enough for my system" (his words verbatim)

Instead of using each scholarship to Recruit the best players available and finding a System to take advantage of their Talents.

So if we ended up with a Taquon vs Daniel Jones (Top10 NFL Draft Pick), then blame the way our HC used his Resources, his scholarships.

Will anything ever stick to CPJ?

Maybe we should rename it the Teflon Option Offense?
From a certain perspective, yes Taquon was forced onto CPJ as a QB. He recruited him as an AB, and basically every other prospect was injured, flunked out, or transferred by the time CPJ retired. Jaylend Ratliffe was supposed to be the next QB after JT before he had a freak ATV accident that ended his career for example.

And VT was 4 -1 versus Duke during that same time period. This is just silly honestly.

Matthew Jordan was supposed to be the starter in 2017. I don’t remember what the injury was that made him retire.

You’re acting like everybody doesn’t agree that our recruiting was subpar under CPJ. We all know it, and it’s the reason we didn’t see more seasons like 2014. The difference is, even with subpar talent, we were consistently competitive and won more than we lost.

If we have better talent than we did from 2010-2018, should we not be winning more games than we did then? Instead, we are much, much worse. I’m really not sure what else to conclude other than our current staff is not coaching as effectively as the previous one (or the two staffs before that).

What you and the acolyte apologists fail to admit or fail to realize is that in order to compete in P5 CFB in 2021 we don't have the OLine, DLine, nor TEs, that is mainly due to an 11 year hiatus from Recruiting GA HSs by your idol.

We do have better skill Players, and it isn't close, but it takes time for linemen, unless you are Recruiting Guys that are Nationally Ranked in the Top25 at their position.

Those Guys know their worth and we have a frugal Fanbase so instead we get OLs that are ranked 200 to 350 at their position instead of Top25 at their position, hence the OL & DL Play you see on Saturday.

At some point another HC will benefit from all the cheesy gimmicks you laugh at because CGC will have rebuilt Relationships between GA HS coaches and GT FB.

Think of a different historical "timeline" where we hire CPJ instead of Chan, and Calvin Johnson, Daryl Smith, Morgan Burnett, Dwyer, DJ Donley, BeyBey et al go to UGA and they win multiple MNCs (think USC with Bush & Leinart, but with a better defense).

If Chan isn't our Coach, The Reverend would've owned the in-State Recruiting and no telling where we are as a Program if UGA had ended their 40 yr curse after 23 to 27 years with multiple MNCs.

By keeping Calvin away from UGA Chan might deserve a bronze plaque somewhere in our Stadium.

Calvin Johnson was always coming to Georgia Tech. His parents picked it for him. It happens in recruiting.

As for CPJ’s results and recruiting I think he had set us up to attack in waves. We would have down years of .500 ball and then come back and compete at a high level with an experienced squad.

1) You ignored my point. I understand we are still in the process of upgrading our roster. But if the previous coach was able to win with subpar talent, why shouldn’t the current one be able to?

2) You have this really odd obsession with CPJ where you try to turn every conversation into a CPJ vs. CGC debate. I support CGC and I get his approach. It makes sense, and I agree that we need to improve in recruiting, marketing, game day experience, etc. He just isn’t doing a good job coaching the players and managing the game right now.

No way Calvin comes to play 3-O.

Trevor Lawrence grew up a Tennessee fan in a house of Tennessee fans and went to Clemson.

I think Calvin comes to play for the triple option and we win the National Championship. Since we are operating in hypotheticals.

How many games do you think we would have won in 2019 had PJ remained the coach? Please take into account the previously posted % of offensive production that left, and the god-awful defensive ranking.

Well, in that case, I think I would have won the Heisman Trophy in Megatron's second year.

I think we go around .500. Then we do better in 2020 and we are very good this year. Which matches the previous trends.

So being #119 in returning production we still win half our games? And get even better, even there is no evidence that we were going to replace the production that left?

Well, what about the production that stayed? We all know Mason and D. Smith are studs. Graham and Yates both would work well in PJ's offense, and you get K. Benson back, and T. Oliver stays on offense. Offensively we would have been fine; maybe not great but typical CPJ offense.

On defense, Woody is greater than Thacker. Still not great; but better than what we were in 2019 & 2020.

Braun stays too.

We never had trouble going .500 or close to it. barring a myriad of injuries.

True, and I didn't think to mention special teams either. I thought special teams were weak under CPJ; but my lord who could have imagined what we saw in 2019 & 2020 in place kicking.
