A few telling stats

I’m a Collins supporter but I don’t think he is blameless in our penalty situation. However, CPJ fanboys here seem to imply we were well coached under his watch and we were pretty stupid under his watch too. Face it, CPJ was a one trick pony and that trick was stale by the time he left here so we needed a complete reboot and this is something that we all knew wasn’t a one year or two year turn around.
I’m sorry, but no. We didn’t just lose to Clemson, we got blown out by SYRACUSE. Talent had nothing to do with today’s loss, nor did offensive scheme, so the 3O excuses are just weak.

We have QB who throws picks like he’s Jameis Winston. We inherited a TO roster that would start at most one or two guys at most other P5 schools, with most of the roster not even making the third team. Pretty much the only thing you can do with that talent gap is run the veer, control the clock, and outscore your opponents. CPJ cratered this roster and I’m willing to give Collins time to climb out of the crater.

Yeah, fat boy sweep was pure genius. Watching our 260 lb punter trying to outrun 3 DBs to the corner was breath taking. I appreciate the effort, but man oh man.
"Hey Jeff, it's Dave. Yeah, Patenude, your offensive coordinator. Sorry for calling at 3am, but I just had this amazing revelation and I'm sure it's going to work. I call it the Fat Boy Sweep."

Collins is a hype guy. If he’s going to succeed, he needs competent assistant coaches.

The penalties, blocked kicks and TOs are due to lack of talent?

CPJ left us in bad shape, agreed. But this ööööshow can’t be totally blamed on him or COVID get real

Starting to remind me of Paul Hewitt. Bring in strong talent and then piss that talent away.
Having said that, I’m hoping he proves me wrong going forward. Seems like a good guy, the players like him and he’s bringing lots of energy to the program, but it’s all for naught if you can’t coach the talent you bring in.

I’ll take a national championship appearance and yearly 5 stars any day

Some of the TO's at least, from either lacking talent on the OL or playing inexperienced players (cause of lack of talent in the older OL players).

There are some coaching deficiencies for sure. However, it's hard to say for sure how effective a coach he is until he finally turns this roster over completely. He might be a CEO type coach who builds a program but needs to delegate. Some coaches are great recruiters but so-so X's and O's guys. Someone like Dabo needs great coordinators. That's why I'm being very patient even though we are taking 10 steps back before we can move forward. We had to rip that TO band aid completely off and it hurts.

We. Lost. To. Syracuse. Mike Leach’s team has put up 500+ passing yards and has the defending champs on the ropes. Don’t tell me a good coach can’t teach his players a new system in TWO YEARS when he did it in one game. I’m tired of hearing the scheme switch as an excuse when we’re losing to inferior opponents.

I would have to say I don’t believe we lost the game today because their players were better than ours. Even though we are young I think we should have won today. I didn’t see the effort from the FSU game and most of the UCF game. I feel they were thinking about Louisville I guess.

Ok, I’ll say it. This looked like a shockingly unprepared team...like the ones Bill Lewis put out there. I know we have a talent gap and were missing a lot of players, but this is bad.

man ... equating to HWWNBN ... that's as damning as it gets

if you keep losing to the likes of Syracuse, all that energy is going to go away like ice cream in front of Rosie O'Donnell.
