Judd has resigned from the AJC. Looks like UGAg threats got too real.
On what? The journalists hands? If this was the Goff or Donan era, the hammer would have been thrown down.
Like others have said, coach Dr pepper is the most powerful POLITICIAN in georgia... tail wagging the dog...This stuff is just unbelievable. Somebody finally starts digging into the dirt over there, so of course he has some skeletons from 35 years ago that are used to discredit him and potentially force him out and off the story.
The rot is too deep, and too much of the state (government, media, etc.) too in the tank for U[sic]GA, for any repercussions to actually happen. It’ll all get paid off and swept under the rug.

The key phrase in your post is "If there are cracks and holes in the story", and the key word is IF. Are there really cracks and holes, or is this just another example of thugs getting their way at the expense of others? If the AJC didn't know about the allegations of him making up stuff when they hired Judd these many years ago - and that kinda stuff gets around - they f'd up.
And a reporter who has a story like he had with Georgia football ain't working on his own. He's got an editor he's answering to who is asking the questions about the story. So the story isn't just Mr. Judd. There are layers of editors that stuff goes through as well.
If there are cracks or holes in the story, that's not just on Mr. Judd. That's on his editors, too.
I don't know. I hope there aren't, for a number of reasons. But if there are, and reporters are human too (though they'd like to think they're infallible), Judd isn't the only one at fault. The key phrase in your post is "If there are cracks and holes in the story", and the key word is IF. BINGO !!!I don't know. I hope there aren't, for a number of reasons. But if there are, and reporters are human too (though they'd like to think they're infallible), Judd isn't the only one at fault.
Honestly, though, I bet this is the dwags way of covering up their own pile of öööö they left out in the yard. Somebody rubbed their nose in it and they bared their teeth.
Lol. they’re doubling up to cover it up. I asked uga fans how they’re okay with their football team having 11 allegations of sexual misconduct under Kirby. A lot of uncomfortable side eyes and attempts at subject change. As long as it’s someone else’s kid being raped or killed, they’re fine barking like mongoloids.I just read that a MAJOR donor at Arizona State just pulled his annual gift of 1/2 million dollars because of the school's anti-free-speech policies. I am not posting this to start any kind of political discussion or argument, but to point out that major donors can do things in light of real or perceived actions by the school, and to say that it would be awesome if some major donor at the cesspool would show a little integrity and cease his contributions in light of all the crap that UGA apparently endorses from the top down. That's the way to wake up a university administration and demand accountability for the crap they endorse, whether explicitly or implicitly. Unfortunately, I doubt that there are any major donors at the cesspool who have any integrity.
I don't think there is that much integrity, because it is self evident that there is COMPLETE alignment from the governors office to the gold dome to the various cesspool boards to the donor class to the [sic] graduates to the sidewalk fans that all that matters is winning football...I just read that a MAJOR donor at Arizona State just pulled his annual gift of 1/2 million dollars because of the school's anti-free-speech policies. If Judd had 11 then can't he just take the story to another publication? The AJC obviously knew how explosive these stories wound be. You would hope that Judd’s editor fact-checked the hell out of his work.
An ambitious reporter from the NYTimes or Washington Post could win a Pulitzer if he meticulously uncovered the corruption in Athens.
Copyright gets in the way. AJC may have it, so all those notes and interviews may belong to them.If Judd had 11 then can't he just take the story to another publication?
Judd did not answer his phone when called by UGASports.com. Following an email inquiry sent to Judd and his direct editors, Judd responded and stated his comments were to be off the record. It’s important to note that on-the-record and off-the-record conversations are agreed upon between the reporter and subject, and UGASports.com did not agree nor was seeking any off-the-record comments.
“The following is off the record: something that happened 35 years ago, during a rough period in my life, has no bearing on anything today. The question you need to ask yourself is whether it is appropriate for a government agency — (In) this case, UGA — to use public resources to try to dig up dirt on a journalist who has published uncomfortable but true stories about that government agency.
“Obviously this has been fed to you — even my personal telephone number, which is known to a relatively small number of people at UGA. Is your devotion to the “Dawgs” so great that you want to try to destroy a person whose work over the past century has exposed atrocities in the state mental hospitals, saving countless lives; helped expose a cheating scandal in the Atlanta Public Schools that had life-altering detrimental effects on thousands of poor African-American children; spurred legislative changes to protect children in the state’s foster care system; and much more.
“So do whatever you want to do to ingratiate yourself with Coach Smart and others at UGA. Drag up the worst moment in someone’s life from 3 1/2 decades ago, and ignore everything since then.
“I hope whatever momentary advantage you gain with UGA is worth the personal degradation you put yourself through.
“Again, every word here is off the record. I might consider talking to you next week. Right now I’m too busy dealing with threats from Georgia “fans” — making sure that my family and I are safe — to deal with you any more.”
