From the viewpoint of the country it was SEC unquestioned at the beginning of the season. By the end it was SEC/Big10 even with the SEC struggles. Now it's going to be SEC/Big10/ACC heading into 2017. I'm hoping that for the first time in a decade the SEC won't have the immense advantage of the preseason polls stacking the deck.

Clemson and FSU will be Top 10. Louisville, Miami, and VT will probably be Top 20. And Pitt, UNC, and Tech will all be possible inclusions as well.

Michigan might slip out of the Top 10 due to losing all 11 starters on defense. OSU will slip after that beat down, but stay Top 10. Wisconsin and PSU will be Top 15ish depending on how they do. And then maybe Iowa?

Bama will be Top 2. LSU will be Top 10. Tennessee and Auburn will be ranked just because. Same with UGA. And then some maybes in Florida and A&M. But it'll be 5/6 spaced out evenly rather than 5+ in the Top 10 per usual.

2016 was a big year for changing the narrative.

The narrative has never been about reality, but about boosting revenue by hyping games for large fanbases with loose pockets. Plus the ESPNSEC TV deal. Hence, no change.
 
Nothing will change in 2017. Majority of SEC west will be highly ranked because reasons, leaving the rest of the country on the outside looking in in terms of poll position.

Also, know-nothing bloggers/media pundits will continue to create playoff hype for bullshit teams like OSU that can't even win their own division, much less their conference.
 
SEC needs to solve their coaching issues quick. They've lost Meyer, Miles, and Richt who all had stellar OOC records and 4 national titles between them (one is not like the other lol). Now you have factories in UGA, LSU, UT, and UF with major question marks on the staffs. It's hard to imagine all 4 of those programs being down at the same time, but that's what's happening. Auburn is in trouble too with Malzahn until they purchase their next QB. He hasn't shown the ability to field even a mediocre offense without an elite dual threat QB.

Honestly the ACC looks like the deepest conference in America right now heading into 2017, and as much as I don't want to dick ride Clemson, they are giving us credibility at the top. The influx of Richt, Petrino, and to a lesser extent Fedora and Fuente to go along with CPJ, Fisher, and the Clemson OC/DCs makes the ACC the best collection of coaches IMHO.

Fisher turning down LSU was biggest sign of the changing times.

Didn't say wins against OOC. I said wins over ranked opponents. Those numbers are skewed due to the pundits over ranking the SEC teams.

I guess I am still not following what you are saying.

You were responding to a post that had a tweet with a spreadsheet that was titled "In non-conference games". In that spreadsheet there was a column titled "vs pregame ranked". This column is only talking about "non-conference games". So if you are talking about that column of data then it is only about OOC games.

If you are referencing data that isn't shown on that spreadsheet, something like total record when playing ranked teams, then my guess is that comes out to a wash. SEC teams are probably just as likely to lose or win to over-hyped conference foes as they are probably an over-hyped team as well. But I don't know what the actual data is so who really knows?

Either way we can probably agree, this year, the ACC rules and the SEC sucks. Go Clemson!

All the stats in that post were for 'non-conference games' because that's what it said at the top.
