Any News On The Status Of Sim?

If Sims is on his athleticism really makes a difference …. ask last year’s UNC team and Duke and Pitt from this year. If he’s not on we definitely have a capable alternative. Also, it would be nice to preserve Pyron’s redshirt but not at the expense of making a bowl. Of course I doubt there is any news because we need to keep Miami in the dark. If Sims cannot use his wheels then Pyron would definitely be the choice.

Honestly, our main issues are...

1) consistent blocking
2) stupid penalties/ACC refs.
3) punt special teams

With consistent blocking and no holding/false starts, we can win with Sims or Pyron. Just need the defense to hold up.

It'll help if the officials' vendetta against Charlie Thomas expires as well.
Well, they gotta look like their doing their fair share to save Grandma. Or something. The whole targeting rule and instant replay (somebody just brought this up) nonsense needs to be re-looked. It's stupid. Let them play and if it's personal foul 15 yards and automatic first down. This is not patty cake. It's a bad rule created by idiots at the NCAA that think their job is somehow to save us from ourselves. No. It's not.

Honestly, when the line suffers 2 starters going down with the flu the night before the game and your starting RT plays RG for the first time in his career with 0 reps there in practice, giving up 3 sacks in the VT game was probably not all that bad for offensive line play.

Still not where any of us want them to be but they at least played well enough for us to win.

The line is a major problem but they're largely young. Give 'em another year to grow and learn. You never know.

The most damning thing on Collins I've read was put out by KQ where he said that Key wanted to continue to recruit young linemen and grow them into the position in years 2 & 3 but Collins overrode those decisions to take transfers because he was feeling the pressure to win now.

Interesting. Fits right in with CGC's general incompetence.

Appreciate you sharing this tidbit. I wondered how much Key as a position coach was able to control the recruiting board for the O-line. Gives a little more insight into the current situation (not creating excuses).

Per KQ Sims is a full-go again this week and will be ready to roll as the emergency QB.
Emergency and not #2. Is that de facto proof of his coming portal entry?

I’m fine riding the hot hand, but y’all are crazy if you think Sims is expendable now with Pyron’s performance. Sims opens things up a lot for the offense with the threat of his legs. I think we probably win comfortably in Blacksburg with him starting.
