Apparently GT is NOT one of the hardest jobs in football

How about I make you the manager of a Church's Chicken that's right next to a Chick-fil-A and I tell you that you're expected to drive more revenue than them.
Auburn is expected to drive more revenue/win more than Alabama?

Auburn has to beat Bama to have happy fans. Good luck with that.

Vandy and Duke are awful football brands. Vandy terrific in baseball, Duke has been terrific in basketball. Not football. Plus AD demoted at Vandy iirc and Duke admin cares even less than GT’s.

GT pretty good job IMO because history says you can keep your job a long time with 7+ wins. Sane enough alignment of expectations and potential results, good enough branding and potential. You just have to beat Ugag periodically.

Miami is a mix…good brand historically, crap game day experience, idiot sidewalk fans, lots of local talent but intense statewide competition. Can’t imagine Diaz surviving much more like UVA game, already has ‘splainin’ to do.

I know where they are going with it, but I still think it's silly to put Auburn on that list. The Auburn fans I know expect to beat everybody except Bama until Saban is gone. But still, they've got plenty of resources and they let Gus hang around a good long while as long as he could win 10 games once ever 4-5 years.

If you’ve ever spent any time with an Auburn fan and listened to their bizarre fantasies of grandeur on why they are so much better than everyone else, especially Alabama you’d understand.
Yes, it's clearly hard to stay employed there. Cutcliffe must be 20 games under 500 in the ACC at this point and he's considered by the media and most people here as having done a PHENOMINAL job.

Is if harder to go 3 - 5 in the ACC coastal at Duke or to compete evenly with Bama, UGA and LSU at Auburn?

Vandy, Kansas are hard like Duke and Wake. Near impossible to win big, hard to win 9 games but they are happy with .500.

Miami is not hard. WSU isn’t. Texas isn’t.

Nebraska is tough.

Auburn is hard because they have to compete directly with Bama but isn’t hard compared to many schools.

GT has higher expectations than Duke and Vandy but still some of the same challenges. Not sure have the “math” works out there.
Miami is hard because of a lack of facilities and institutional support. The administration seems to actively work against the team. They play in a pro stadium that is 45 minutes from the school. Yeah, they might be surrounded by talent, but good luck landing it if you don’t have the facilities that UF, FSU, and now even UCF have. Miami isn’t the cakewalk people make it out to be.

Wazzu is hard because of location and talent. Have you been to Pullman? You might as well try starting a program on the moon.

Pull up a satellite view of Pullman and you will understand. They need a guy like Leach to have a chance.

Auburn has 2 undefeated seasons and a natty in the past 20 years. Mutliple coaches have done well there recently. Not a hard job. Silly article is silly.
Multiple coaches have done well and still gotten fired, including the NC winner. Auburn is def. one of the toughest jobs.

Yes - how many Aubbies do you know?
Had some close acquaintances like 20 years ago but not currently. I figured the current reality would be obvious to them but I suppose I just need to look at my own fandom of GT to see the counterpoint.

Top 7:
1. Vandy
2. Kansas
3. Nebraska
4. Texas
5. Washington State
6. Miami
7. Auburn

Texas? Really? With their own TV network. The flagship university in one of best states for football talent in the country. It is like UGA not winning a natty in over 40 years. Makes no sense.

I guess Tech not being in this list just means we don't have any expectations to win?

how long did those coaches last before being fired?

Bowden 5 seasons including his undefeated season, the 5th season the wheels fell off the cart
Tuberville lasted 10 seasons, 4 after his undefeated season, the program looked to be in decline
Chizik 4 seasons total, 2 after his undefeated season, the wheel feel off the cart in the 4th season

Basically if you can't win 8 games at Auburn you ain't going to last long.

9. Jacksonville Jaguars...it's like they are playing Alabama every week
