Apparently GT is NOT one of the hardest jobs in football

Auburn has 2 undefeated seasons and a natty in the past 20 years. Mutliple coaches have done well there recently. Not a hard job. Silly article is silly.
Tommy Tuberville, Gus malzahn and Gene Cheezdick were all great football minds though

I will double down on my take. I guess it depends on how you define hard. To me, pressure, demands and expectations don't equal difficulty. Places where it is hard to actually win are what I think of.

I actually think Bama is the hardest job in college football. The expectations of their fans for such a mediocre school and state is unreal. That's what makes the performance by Saban even the more remarkable. He is so good even Bama fans are scared to criticize him. I believe the next coach has an impossible job I wouldn't take if already in a good situation (Dabo).

I like driving in my truck
Auburn sucks
Auburns are actually neat automobiles.

Texas is hard because if you’re a football guy, you aren’t really driving the bus. It’s the mega boosters that the admin has to keep happy that are in control. They all think they know how to run a program and because they have money, they get to dictate how things go. Imagine a dictator-type like Nick Saban letting the boosters tell him what to do.

That program needs a Mack Brown type that can be the CEO and delegate actual football stuff to underlings. A guy like Dabo would probably do well at Texas because he’s not the X’s and O’s guy. He lets his coordinators do their thing and he makes sure everyone is on the same page (not so much this year, at least on offense) and handles recruiting and glad handing boosters.

CPJ was beloved for beating them and yet still finishing with the same coaching % as Gailey.

And yes, we were going to beat UGAg with Gailey at the helm in 2008 and 2009
And......doubtful. Fixed

Yes and CPJ stayed 11 years and both of them had higher winning percentages higher than Bobby Ross' whose percentage was the same as Bill Fulcher. And I am pretty sure that we would not put either CPJ or CCG above CBR. So the point is let me find another way to put down our last former coach?

I said this same thing on a UT page. The article is comparing resources with expectations which is why GT is not higher on the list (most GT fans here don't reasonably expect a national championship every year). Their knock on Tennessee was limited in-state recruits and that Clemson/Georgia/Bama's rise has eliminated UT's ability to recruit. That's ridiculous because the state of Tennessee is much bigger than alabama, is growing faster and producing more prospects every year. And you could argue that the last time bama/georgia/clemson were down is because UT was good, Florida was good. It is cyclical and coach-driven. I'm around a lot of UT fans, no one here is expecting a natty in the next 5 years. They are expecting to progress to where they are able to complete for division and conference titles with a chance to make the playoffs every year. Expectations should absolutely be the same at a school like GT with an easier path and based in the middle of the most fertile recruiting grounds outside of FL/TX/CA.

Maybe, but you can forget about any ACC titles/Orange Bowls. 06 was his best team with one of the best football players to ever live and he couldn't beat an average ugag or Wake Forest.

Not in 2008, that was a good UGA team and that was a pure Johnson coaching win; dominated/controlled the game with offense.

Formula for hardest job= lack of funds, high academics with limited places to hide, hard schedule, small student body, transient student body, lack of buy-in from President and Chancellor, and in-state rival with the opposite of all listed issues. Yeah, that'll do it.

This. If Gailey couldn’t beat uga with Johnson and Choice, he wasn’t going to beat them.
