Athlon Preview of Georgia TECH and their 2022 Schedule

If these coaches are right, then the biggest weakness in the G.T.A.A. isn't the head football coach, it's the AD who hired him.
We are sinking faster than the Titanic yet you take the time to put periods after each letter in GTAA? Pretty sure that deck chair over there ain’t quite straight.

I wonder if Geff has seen the opposing coaches comments?

Those coach comments are brutal but I can't say that I can argue with them. The quicker we end this ööööshow the better. TStan is a fool for letting himself get taken for a ride by this POS "coach".

We have hit the iceberg, the life boats are full, and the band is playing "Nearer My God To Thee," so while I am in sitting in the empty lounge watching the water wash over my shoes with nothing to do and nowhere to go, I found the time to put the periods in G.T.A.A.

Well maybe it won't be the biggest rebuild in history.

After thinking about it, it very well could be. CPJ left a roster that at least was suited to run some fashion of an option offense. CGC may be leaving a roster of misfits that aren't well suited to run any kind of offense. Add to that the kids currently in high school see GT as loserville and the rebuilding job may be much more challenging than what CGC faced.

Gotta hope that miracles happen and Long can put together an offense using the pieces that CGC and Pnope assembled. CBK needs to put up or be fired mid-season as well. My mindset is changing though, I am not seeing this as much as a 'make a bowl game or else' for CGC; but more of a 'give us reason to promote you to head coach' for Long.

You're talking only of talent. Just think how many bad work and practice habits have to be lobotomized by the new guy. The entire mental makeup of the team has to be rebuilt after this choad is done.

And if the new coach brings discipline back to the program, the exodus of players will be massive. Might not be a bad thing. We are very soft. A product of the mentality of a coach more interested in loving his players rather than pushing them to be their best.

To be fair "anonymous coaches" have ripped our talent every year since Gailey's last class graduated. I take anonymous quotes for what they're worth, which is pretty much nothing.
Yeah. There have been a few douchebags on the other sideline over the years. Just picture someone like a Cutcliffe in previous years or Narduzzi making these comments, or a jilted Norvell after losing to Sims (who he may see as overrated).

I wouldn't expect any nice things said about Geff after his display of 'sportsmanship' after the Pitt game

Below is Athlon's take on Georgia Tech and then the first six games on the schedule will have the last six posted tomorrow!

Athlon on Georgia Tech: Collins who came into Atlanta as a relentless marketer with constant social media presence, has taken a lower profile this offseason. He knows talking is useless: It’s time to win. Even if there is some improvement, it may be difficult to break out of the jackets' run of three-win season due to a brutal schedule.

Opposing Coaches Size Up Georgia Tech: Coach 3: They've recruited a bunch of guys that other staffs think are overrated.

GAME 1
Athlon on Clemson: This defense is good enough to win a national title. It comes down to the offense. The running game should be dependable, but if Uiagalelei is going to have to make some players in the passing game for Clemson to have the year it wants to have.

We are Clemson!

To be fair, our talent has been sub-par every year since Gailey and as a huge CPJ fan I'll openly admit that. So the anonymous quotes are valid. The difference is the previous coach had a Dodd-like confidence in his ability to outsmart and outscheme the opponents and he did so very successfully for many seasons. The current coach has no schematic advantage as he was not hired to scheme, but to market. Good grief...

Wow what a brutal take! A few of the highlights, er, lowlights:

- The best player they've recruited is going to be starting at Alabama.
- They've recruited a bunch of guys that other staffs think are overrated. That’s fine, you have a difference in evaluations, but they aren't a development program either.
- They had one of the worst secondaries I've ever seen last year., and all those guys are gone, so maybe so maybe that is a positive move?
- The failure here has been recruiting. It's been the exact thing he made such a big deal about in the first place, recruiting Atlanta talent to stay in Atlanta. They're as much of a non-factor on legit talent now as they were under Paul Johnson.

That last point is the most damning. Everyone agreed that CPJ's weakness was recruited. So the fact the sales guy we hired specifically to recruit better has done worse? It's almost like HS prospects can see past the show and realize there is no substance here. And the prior point seems about overrated prospects seems to support this. CGC wanted to elevate our recruiting rankings so he picked overrated guys that Clemson, Georgia and Bama realized were 2 star talents with 4 star soft HS opponents.

Coach 4: They had one of the worst secondaries I've ever seen last year.

Ugh…. But the coaching and scheme back there were just so bad it’s hard to disagree. If Coach Goof didn’t see it it’s because he didn’t want to.
