We cheaped out on paying for DC's for half of his tenure. Why do you think we were grabbing DC's who couldn't cut it as head coaches? I don't think we got what we paid for with roof, but he's the odd man out.

(CPJ wanted ellis johnson, who was paid 350k / yr for 08, 09 at USC. It doubled in 2010)

groh: 310-344k (includes mandatory bonuses)

roof: 550k -> 800k
(auburn was paying him 500k as a DC)

woody: 575k (goes to 600k next year, if he stays)

#2 I'm just stating a fact, so maybe you are butthurt by the facts

I'm not saying Tech can't win with another offense, I'm just sick and tired of reading people poo-pooing on something that brought us fame and fortune that we haven't seen in almost two decades. I know GOL had a few good years by Tech standards sandwiched in there before you go and throw that in my face.

Never replaced that leadership from that squad--Days, Laskey et al. In addition, Thomas was incredible at the QB position. Not trying to knock Marshall, but with better QB play the last 2 seasons, GT easily wins 5 to 7 more games over that time frame.

Pepper Rodgers had a bad perm, Bobby Dodd was spending more time playing tennis than coaching, Bill Alexander’s split T offense was out of date and John Heisman spent too much time with his trophy.
