Benson berated

Is this real or is this a McElwain death threat moment?

First of all, Benson was the one offensive player to have a positive impact for our team. Also, kudos to our punt game and the defense in the 2nd half.

Second of all, cussing out a college football player for losing to a top 10 team with clearly superior talent is a beta move. What a total joke. At this level the coaches are fair game, the players should mostly be left alone.

Pros are different, obviously, because they are grown men who are paid millions to play.

Lose another game or two and nobody will care enough to berate a player.

Trashing a player directly is sorry, but I think it's OK to say "Benson you suck" or something in the heat of the moment on a message board or on Twitter or something (unless you're tweeting at them). That's just being a passionate fan.

Kind of like the idiot in the game thread wanting to bench Benson.
We saw what happens when you do that in the Tennessee game. Each guy takes his turn fumbling

Only a douche would come up with that and italicize it.
Yeah, I was actually struggling to remember some appropriate Latin endings and didn't want to Google it. Douche status confirmed.

OTOH, he is gonna get his ass chewed someday at work. Earning his living. I wish my biggest problems were just dumbass football fans.

I think Benson was one of the few bright lights in our loss to Clemson and one fumble will not win or lose a game.

I think Benson was one of the few bright lights in our loss to Clemson but one fumble can definitely sometimes win or lose a game. At least if anything can.

Grown ass men should never “tweet”. I don’t care what it’s about.

That also includes commenting on some young adult’s Facebook unless you’re related.
Disagree about tweeting. Agree with the FB comment.

My problem was with how PJ handled the fumble. When Jerry Howard, a true freshman, fumbled in his first game he benched him and he did not come off the bench for another carry that game. Benson has now fumbled multiple games and no such punitive action. Howard has played very well since that fumble and has slowly earned PT again, deservedly so. Brandon Adams has always played well when he gets PT but for some unknown reason he doesn't get PT. My problem is not so much with X and O's but how we are utilizing our players.

Now that everyone has been congratulated, either by their self or the thumbs up button, on agreeing that it is totally and completely and utterly and absolutely UNACCEPTABLE for a fan to berate a student-athlete for their performance, I have a question. Where and how did this happen? Don't get me wrong, I would never call a student-athlete a liar or, more importantly, accuse a Georgia Tech fan-run Twitter account of exaggeration. But.. for real? An early fumble in a game where we got dominated across the board is the one that finally causes random Tech fans to start behaving like Clemson or Athens rednecks and "cuss out and berate" a player?

According to the tweets/replies that followed:

1) Benson said this on Instagram Live
I guess if you're going to be anyone's "source for Analysis and News on Georgia Tech Football and Basketball" then really you must stalk players on social media, no matter how creepy, or how strongly worded the restraining order may be.
2) Benson also "Said he got some stuff thrown at him. Absolutely unacceptable. This year has been the worst from our fan base."
He got stuff thrown at him? That is Absolutely unacceptable. But uh.. what's this about our fans being awful this year? öööö did that come from? I dunno, this seems.. weird. Maybe there was some misunderstanding here and it was Clemson fans who threw stuff at him during the game? Fortunately, someone else asked GaTechNation this same question. So where did this happen?
3) "Today on campus"
what. So multiple deranged Tech fans found Benson or just happened to stumble across him, berated and cursed at him and then threw things at him? Ignoring the fact that I'm sure plenty of you have a story about how a Tech fan did something shitty once, and a clever quip to make about how our fan base is like anything else/is what it is - does anyone actually believe this shit?

If Benson did make this claim, I'm calling straight up bullshit. I don't (want to) know how to find the video of these stunning allegations or if that's even possible, but it's also entirely possible (or more likely) that this twitter doofus is either blowing something out of proportion, is mentally deficient and misunderstood Benson, or is just lying through his teeth. All of these possibilities are Absolutely. Disgusting.

Seriously though, what the öööö is the "This year has been the worst from our fan base" bit actually referring to? This dude is butthurt over something and lashing out in self-loathing and a spiritual/rectal anguish, the depths of which we have only begun to scratch the surface.

Not Benson related, but related enough I suppose.... Pretty good look here.

Those of you with such severe mental retardation that you bought this story without a second thought, might have trouble navigating things like I-75, the vagina, or Twitter and I can help with them all. If you have difficulty driving in Atlanta and make the lives of others miserable as a result, please kill yourself, followed by the pound sign. If you have difficulty locating the clitoris or finding it in your heart to believe it is real, remind me after dinner and your mother and I can educate you before you brush your hair and get to bed. If you can't find the relevant tweets:

edit: Absolutely unacceptable.

Other than some bellyaching here about blowing leads, I thought we have been relatively controlled this year.

This screams of trolling by Georgia fans.

In the current mood of the country in general and specifically in the NFL, I have found a lot more tension exists in the relationship between college football players and fans. Fans enjoy using football as an outlet for venting anger. Anything less than success is met with vocal criticism in stadiums and criticism expressed on social media. Players and their families are sensitive to these critiques. I have seen it to a mild degree at BDS and even more prounounced at ECU. Fans fawn all over recruits and then complain, sometimes way beyond what is reasonable, about players. The days of warm and fuzzy love between college players and fans is gone. Players and their families listen on game days and follow on social media. They are pretty sure only a few fans care anything about them as persons; most just view them as a mercenary means to an end - the end being their own personal vindication by supporting a winning team.
