Butch Davis is classless

My point is too just run the ball, if you don't get a first then kick the FG but don't throw to the endzone up by 21. I didn't realize we did that too Duke either.

The guy was WIDE OPEN!!! Why did we let him get that open. We did the same thing to Duke... Remember throwing a bomb for a TD... Quit being a bunch of women. We were beat and our defense quit playing it's not Butch Davis' fault.

Plus, UNC fans are no where near as bad/dumb as UGA fans...

At the luncheon, held at Fox Sports Grill at Atlantic Station, a guest asked Johnson if he was irked by Carolina’s passing the ball with less than four minutes to go and the score 28-7.

Said Johnson, “I can only coach one team at a time, but they’re in our division, and we will see them again.”

I predict 223 - 0 next year.

I cannot believe we are having a discussion about running up the score in a game decided by 21 points.

This is embarrasing, people.

You don't intentionally try to score with 3 or so minutes left by throwing to the endzone when you have the game in hand. That's what CPJ is saying. Run the damn ball just like he would. Now I didn't see the Duke pass so I can't comment but Paul isn't going to forget this. Make fun of me all you want but their is a code among the coaches that if you pull antics like that or what richt did last year then there will be consequences.

Maybe Davis doesn't care if he burns bridges here because he's leaving... I have no factual evidence to back this up, but running up the score and being a prick seems to be the new SEC East standard operating procedure. So, it seems like a good fit at a certain school.

I was at the Navy game in 2000 when we scored 70 points. And we were throwing to the endzone with the clock winding down.

I don't agree with it but we've been guilty of it as well.

Another thing is that I think you are going by the code among players and coaches which I think is a stricter interpretation. As a fan, I didn't have that big of a problem with it but my perspective might be a little different.

is it because they are on semester break???

Yeah and o'leary berated his qb for doing it as well.

With FrQb Bilbo and a bunch of 3rd and 4th stringers. That still doesn't make it right but there is a difference...I didn't really care for it Sat, but its not that big of a deal imo.

In this case, I really don't see what the fuss is all about. I see see myself doing the same thing in giving a guy who has not been able to play lately a chance to brush off some rust by letting him compete against good competition in the red zone to get him ready to play in the next few games if needed.

Wow, some of you guys are blowing this way out of proportion. Allow me to add fuel to the fire.

We played against a football team... not our best friends/buddies/lovers/brothers/sisters/parents. Hakeem was WIDE-FREAKING open on their last TD pass, what were they supposed to do, get a silver platter and hand us the ball with a side of gravy? You're blaming the other team for our guys leaving Hakeem (who is the top receiver in this conference by far), wide open near the end zone?

If Butch Davis is classless because of this then certainly CPJ is classless for going 41-14 against JSU, 38-7 against MSU, and 27-0 against Duke.

Look at the numbers, UNC ran 186 yards against us but completed only 8 out of 19 passes. I still maintain that they were helping us out by passing; the problem was that our defense adjusted to commit to defending Ryan Houston and Shaun Draughn and we didn't defend the best WR in the ACC.

And is any coach supposed to feel 100% comfortable with a 14 point lead? Tell that to Tommy Bowden. Does no one else remember our amazing victory against Clemson in 2004? We scored 2 TDs with little over 3 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter.

I know this week is a BYE week (finally) for our guys to get some rest but is there really nothing else to discuss other than this?

Getting quietly pissed off about something and planning revenge is not what I have a problem with. In fact, getting pissed off is human nature and is beyond our control.

What I think is weak and pathetic is whining out loud (or in published words) about it and carrying on like it's a big deal. Like someone else said, when Tech fans complain about having the score run up in a 28-7 game, I think it's embarrassing.

What, by the way, is complaining supposed to accomplish? Is UNC going to take it back? Apologize? Hold your hand? Tell you that they're sorry?

You don't see Coach Johnson whining and complaining about it.

If you get beat, you get beat. Get better and be the one doing the beating next time. But you never, ever whine and complain about it. How pathetic. How embarassing.

Or, since everyone is so outraged and upset, we could just make a rule that after each game, we will adjust the final score so that margins of victory are all by just one point. That way, nobody will get their feelings hurt. Or, we could do like some hippie youth leagues out there and just not keep score. Everybody gets a trophy! While we're at it, I am pretty pissed off and upset that UGA has beaten us 7 times in a row. Let's adjust those scores so that Tech wins one or two of them. It's only fair. They shouldn't run up the streak like that.
