Buyout

Neither is Sims
Horseshit he isn't. 60+% completions. 75% when fully healthy against Pitt. Balled the öööö out against UNC in a game we were GOING TO LOSE. Can run like a damn elk. Who was the last QB at GT with those measurables?

No, I am not working on a buyout. I do not contribute. I longer buy tickets. I make no apologies.
You are not a fan. You are a troll. If you DIAF tonight, none of us would care and it would have zero effect on GT athletics. Now öööö off.

Everyone keeps talking like next year is the end, but think about the reasoning behind a seven year contract for the “biggest rebuild in the history of EVAR”. Years 1-4 are a pass. Next year is the first year of a standard contract for a college coach. Who gets fired in year one? If you don’t want to see progress next year, you just aren’t looking. Collins doesn’t fail this contract until 2025. Strap in.

Edited this post so it's ready for you and locked and loaded for postseason 2022

Can someone post the details of the buyout and how it decreases by year?
CGC was announced as head coach Dec 7, 2018, so I assume that’s when his contract started. To fire him this year, would leave about 15 days of this year ($3.2M) and his last 4 years ($13.8M), for a total of about $13.932M.

Firing him immediately after the u(sic)ga game next year would still technically be within his first 4 years, so he would still be guaranteed the full remaining amount, or about $10.5M. But waiting a week or so until his 4th year is over (Dec 8, 2022) would mean he’d only be owed $2.4M per remaining year, so the buyout would drop to $7.2M. That’s a $3.3M savings to wait a week, so keep that in mind if everything goes poorly next year.

Day after COH 2022 - $10.5M.
Dec 8, 2022 - $7.2M.

Actually, depends on what the contract says. His contract, most likely, has stated waypoint dates and doesn't just rely on a "well, he signed it on this date"

Sorry bud, I'm not going anywhere. I'm as good a fan as anybody, and that includes you. I come at it differently. Take a valium, because not only are there many, many more that agree with me, but we are gonna stick around longer than you. We are waiting on the new regime.

So you say you're as good of a fan as I am while pointing out you are not as good of a fan as I am.

DIAF

And I'm not your bud, guy.

And I have "been around" since the 1970's

Under 6 and he’ll be out. The big money will force it. TStan is probably out, too.

8+ and we’ll have “eat crow, Collins is the answer” threads.

6-7 and we’ll end up debating on firing or not firing, and this place will be more miserable than usual.

I agree Jeff Sims is very Talented and not the issue... Poor OLINE play and Coaching has really hurt Sims thus far. Kid is very talented

How will these actions help GT football? Even if CGC is gone next year, (which is probable) how will these actions help get a better coach? Help recruiting? Isn't the definition of a fair weather fan bailing until things are good again?

You mean other than another TO coach, of course, since thats the only coaching style that could've transitioned seamlessly. Hard to pass pro with short, stubby linemen so any other coach would've been a complete rebuild. People are letting the horrible record blind them to the fact that any other coach would've dont terribly inheriting this team. There could be a few guys who could rebuild faster via the portal but those are 5-7 or 6-6 bandaids, aka Mike Norvell at FSU. Recruiting and developing players just takes time (several recruiting cycles) and I think people here are very short sited with Collins in that aspect. Having said all that, I think our HC and DC have been subpar to say the least. Our OC was better than people here gave him credit, IMO, but thats water under the bridge now.
You have let a lot of false narratives blind you to the horrible record.

We didn’t have to run an under center 3O to transition and get more than 3 wins. We could have run the system that UL currently runs. Or the Meyers/Mullen is-totally-not-the-option system. Or Rich Rod’s system which ran about 80% of the time. Even a predominately under center I formation offense would have been a smoother transition.

But now we have the players to run whatever, non air raid system, we would like.

Well donating and buying season tickets has brought me / us here. So continuing that doesn’t promise improvements. So maybe withholding green backs will.

If Tech would commit in writing to canning Tstan and Collins if enough money was raised to buy them out…I’d start the crowdfunding campaign today. Otherwise I’m just throwing good money after bad. Minimum of two more years of sucking is set in stone.

I've also been around since the 1970's bud.
JJacket enjoys playing laser tag with an uzi.... He's that type of closet typist. He's probably been around since the 70ssss....whoooopidity doo. Join the club.
But while he's enjoying his days of trash talking the mentally challenged on Toon Blast.... he comes here and talks about His Fanhood. It flows thru a curly straw straight out of a thermos of tang with Rock and Bullwinkle on it.
He's why people make fun of Tech Fans

Well, if you talk, walk and attend like a fair weather fan...

I fully get that the average, casual fan factors in winning both in team choice and involvement (attendance, donations, etc.), but there are many on here who claim to be more committed/involved than casual fans. Obviously it is a free country so do what you want, but don't labor under the delusion that you are some sort of committed, core fan if you act like a casual fair weather fan but post online.

If you take 2006 Nick Saban and put him as the HC of this squad after CPJ...we would've gone to a bowl....and would've prob played for the acc title last year.

That's not a fair weather fan. That's business, if the product isn't worth the investment....you don't invest. I'm sure there are casual fans, but I don't have a mullet...so clemson is out. My family tree forks....there goes Auburn and Bama...... and personally I won't root for UGA in a coloring contest.
Those have no baring on the situation. Fans have a right to be pissed with the Powers that Be and should be able to demand action or withdraw their support.

It's that simple....and save it with all the other yada yada yadas from others. You know damn good and well that 99.9% of Tech's Fan Base revolves around Basketball and Football.....and mix in Baseball ............. that's it. If anything, that's the definition of a fair weather fan.

The type of people that root for Duke in BBall and Bama in Football
