C J Jackson decommitted?

Guess it depends on whether you think watering down the academic standards for the entire university so you are more competitive in sports impacts the value of the degree of the typical student I guess. I don't look at the UNC degrees the same anymore; but maybe that is just me and a handful of others. Alabama grades on a 4.33 scale instead of a 4.0 scale, so when I see a high GPA from a Bama grad I don't take it seriously.
I've never known of anyone that hired a Bama grad before for any kind of important position. How did it work out?

 I may never know, we passed on it. That said, Bama has spent some $$ on new engineering facilities and students....and added grade inflation on top of it.

Bama used and is using sports to buy their academics. Smart move by them. I can understand why kids from Illinois or even OH, NY, NJ, CT, PA, CA, etc all want to flee those states but surprised Alabama is a desirable destination for them.

Hard to beat free. I have met a few who aren't paying anything to go to college.

My daughter went where the money was. Worked pretty good for me and her!!!

Would like to ask one question about Coach Prime and his roster turn over.

How many of the players that he brought into CU would be able to get into, or stay in, Tech for more than the first semester?

If the number is greater that 90%, then there is a position to be held. If it is less, then maybe want a wonderful thought! (note: Never said it was the best of thoughts).
In case you haven’t noticed, that doesn’t matter anymore. GT sticking to rules doesn’t make GT great or special, it makes GT a unicorn.

But what would happen if we lose our we suck but at least we're smart excuse we tell our UGA acquaintances every Saturday after Thanksgiving? What self righteous BS will we fall back on then?

What if we gave up on academics to be good at football and all we got was the same sucky football but now with sucky academics to go with it.

I really don't get the idea that making things academically easier for players will change things for the student body as a whole, much less the value of the degree. I guess we just have different predictions for how that would play out.

I don't think you can make things academically easier for just players; that is what saved UNC from sanctions, regular students were taking the same fake classes.

Jackson should have waited another week to make his decision.

If you’re not really committed you are not committed. If you commit just because you’re excited over this win, what if we lose in two weeks to Boston College? Do you decommit again. You can’t operate that way these teams have scholarship limits.

So you think GT going out and adding a more athlete friendly degree is going to somehow hurt the reputation or diminish the overall value of GT degree? Let’s not go down the rabbit hole of excuses on why it won’t happen, just ask yourself the question. Would it somehow hurt GT’s academic reputation?

I know GT is different from most P5 schools related to the financial impact of football. LSU for example is raking in the $$$ from an athletics standpoint, while the school itself from an academic standpoint is broke. GT is the opposite, which is great for the school itself and the overall purpose. Education.
