MTSU also comes to mind. There wasn't enough liquor at Cypress Street to stop me after that one.
I just wrote some emotional poetry in the Al Groh tradition.

Stansbury, having actually played football in the good old days, should be starting to see through this. There's only so much of this the locker room can take. If this is what we get when the guys are playing hard for him, what is it going to look like if they start going through the motions? The post game presser was unbelievable to watch. Collins couldn't even look up at the press and he kept spouting the same old BS. "Much improved"? This guy has ZERO credibility and ZERO substance. Obvious he is a lightweight and doesn't know what the fcuk he is doing. And Stansbury isn't far behind him either.
What will happen when players stop believing him?
This will not end well. This really sucks...
I know you're not a new fan just based on your post count, but I can think of a minimum 5 games worse than this: of course the Citadel, Furman back in the day, Kansas St debacle, MTSU boat race, Fresno St Bowl game, the Temple game last year, LSU Peach Bowl, the Samford battle. I could probably keep going...
I didn't specifically hit only games where the opponents were worse than NIU. But we should have beaten LSU pretty well, and they beat us like a drum in one half. The loss was completely deflating after the season they just had.I will give you Citadel; but no way was the losing to LSU in the Peach Bowl as bad as this, that is simply retarded to suggest. In fact, no loss in a bowl game compares to losing to NIU in the season opener. Getting boat raced by MTSU may have been close.
NIU in Game 23 is much worse than Citadel in Game 3 for me. Your interest waning, my interest waning, only 33,000 people showing up shows that whatever small minority Geoff got to become vocal advocates on social media isn’t spreadingIf we're going by feelings, there have been many many worse than NIU. The 2009 UGA game remains a giant gut punch. Unfortunately, my interest in GT football is waning, and so the losses don't mean as much anymore.
We can't call the NIU loss his #1 worst loss, but it's definitely above the lineNIU in Game 23 is much worse than Citadel in Game 3 for me. like it would if a less cool dude with less cool clothes would just win some ööööing games. As someone else said, the whole program is soft and they’re doing everything cool and hip the other days of the week except making decisions during actual games to find wins on Saturdays.

Also, I'd like to amend one game - I wrote Samford, but I really meant Gardner Webb.
I’m afraid when he leaves and we get a real coach, they will transfer in droves. With all due respect, leaving a full cupboard for the next guy is anything but worthless. Let's hope he can continue to reel in the big name recruits.
I felt worse after 2008 UVA because I talked a lot of smack to friends at UVA. Come to think of it I talked a lot of joking smack before this game to to my family members who have distant connections to NIU. I called NIU a talentless collection of driftwood amidst of a sea of incompetence. And then said their coaches were oil and water.I felt worse after The Citadel, if I'm being honest
Y’all acting like this was the worst loss in program history.
Oh wait…that’s because it actually was the worst loss in program history.
There has not been a season in your lifetime where we 'should have beaten LSU pretty well'. I agree that game sucked though.I didn't specifically hit only games where the opponents were worse than NIU. But we should have beaten LSU pretty well, and they beat us like a drum in one half. More years than not, I certainly agree. But I have certainly been alive long enough to see Tech teams that would have rolled LSU had they played. There has not been a season in your lifetime where we 'should have beaten LSU pretty well'. I agree that game sucked though.

MTSU I think points wise was the worst maybe ever--we were 19 pt favorite and lost by 18 I believeFor me MTSU was the worst because I was in Nashville attending a wedding with a bunch of MTSU grads.
We won’t lose on Saturday. Who knows how Northern Illinois was impacted by COVID. They’re usually a pretty good MAC team. KSU is not to their level in the slightest. Usually the team puts together a max focus/effort type game after one like this under Collins (another sign of his lack of mature leadership in my opinion)It feels like everything hinges on Saturday's game. If we lose Saturday, then barring a miracle we will be 0-4 heading into Pitt. At that point the season could really spiral out of control. I am concerned about recruits de-committing and current players choosing to transfer. If we get there we will find out if the players have faith in Collins.

All this did was probably kill CG's tenure at Tech and maybe put us in FCS in the future--hmmm
CGC with CPJs recruits would be hell on earthwait, are you suggesting that it can get worse than this? Well, I guess a loss on Saturday would be worse.
Johnson was good at milking enough clock to not give up that many points73-7. Has there been worse than that?
