Coaching Search Update

Are we an attractive coaching job at the moment? Not really thanks to an exceptionally poor hire and disarray in the AA. But if you ask what school has a higher ceiling, GT or Cincinnati, I think the answer is GT. Cincinnati isn’t all that far in time from being Georgia State.
I honestly don't think you can say that we have a higher ceiling. Maybe 20 years ago, but now? Cincinnati is fresh off of an undefeated season and a CFP appearance- if that's not our ceiling, what is? We're trending towards becoming a Tulane and they're trending towards being an Oklahoma State/Kansas State/Virginia Tech (before they started sucking) program. Who cares how new their program is? They're in a P5 conference, have a good recruiting region, and have recent high-level success. We were winning national championships before FSU even had a team, but who cares?

An objective observer would not say that we are fundamentally an upgrade from Cincinnati as a head coaching job. It would take a total sea change for us to be considered an upgrade for a Cincinnati head coach who's not on the verge of getting fired, not just a small streak of being a decent program.

No point. People around here lock into an argument (in this case, a guy), and there’s no changing their minds. And in the end we’re all speculating.

I speculate Chadwell would be underwhelming.
fwiw I'm not interested in arguing, not one person on this board has the first clue about hiring a D1 football coach, or which would be best to lead us out of our current nightmare. I know that because I am on this board and I am in a constant state of embarrassment at how much smarter I am than you dumbasses. I apologize for it to everyone I meet.

Anyway just tell me who you want as coach or I will keep going on like that.

Speak for yourself. I excelled in NCAA football dynasty mode. I know who to hire.

I don’t follow the possible ‘coaching’ prospects, but I wouldn’t be disappointed in a defense minded coach. I’ve always believed that defenses are much easier to build than an offense is. It appears everyone is fixated on offensive guys sans Deion.

At this point, anything over three wins a season is whelming. 7+ wins within the next two seasons would be overwhelming.
I would be thoroughly whelmed with six wins next year. I want more, but who knows what kind of öööö the next guy has to undo.

that’s like getting upset that you can’t afford the new Skittles laced with fentanyl.
How much for just one?

Thanks for throwing a cold bucket of reality on our warm cozy pipe dreams.

They sure as hell have made better hires than we have. But you’re fooling yourself if you think that Cincinnati isn’t one bad hire away from becoming an afterthought.

I GT has the ability to have a higher ceiling. However; with that said, GT seems to create its own headwinds and self inflicted challenges.

Just don’t hire someone looking like or talking like our previous HC.
