The truth is this. We will never beat Georgia doing the same things Georgia does, because of Georgia's systemic advantages. In order to beat Georgia we have to do something different than Georgia is doing. Period, end of story.

For evidence, I offer the following data:

I am 40 years old. Every single year we have beaten Georgia in my entire lifetime, our offensive sytem has been built at least in part on exploiting overcommitment of the linebackers with the triple option play. Every single victory. I invite any skeptics to go back and check it out for yourself.
 
Just a reminder, critiquing is acceptable. CPJ is a big boy. but if your post tilts toward the "fire him", you will be banned.
 
I think we can win either way, honestly. Gailey wasn't a great coach anywhere he has ever been. If we were running a pro style offense here with a different coach, perhaps we do better. Gailey chose to put Pat Nix in charge of the offense. We never could develop a quarterback under Gailey. It seemed to be the one piece that was missing. Reggie did what he could and fought hard, but he would have been more suited to our offense we run now than a pro set.

Just to be sure, I said his system has run its course and needs to go, not the coach himself. If he can adapt and make changes then I'm perfectly happy with CPJ.

I agree. The two fumbles for TD's I don't put on Thomas. There was no blocking on either play. Terrible. My seats are just above where both took place. We have GOT to find some blocking.

who's offense was he running for Wagner at Hawaii in 1992 when they won 11 games, won the WAC and beat Illinois in the Holiday Bowl?

To me, it's putting handcuffs on the handcuffs you already have on since very few players want to play in the system or practice defense against it. You make a hard job even harder and will eventually have academy-level recruits on hand. I think we're there now. To me, this is the long-term reason it has to go. I like it because it's quirky, but like all gimmicks, it eventually runs its course.

That's way too long ago. But one would have to assume that he changed for a reason.
 
We were totally competitive yesterday and could've won the game if we'd just made more plays. Against Miami, a football factory with way more resources, better recruiting, and no academic barriers. That's good coaching. What more do you expect?

If you've got a coach who can do more with less, you've got an above average coach. Good luck finding a coach that is above above average paying them less of a salary than the schools you're trying to beat.

More of a problem than the scheme is the media attitude toward it. It doesn't matter what scheme you run, better athletes are going to win more often than not.

This offense would be something else with great all around talent. We don't have that so it lowers our margin of error. The media plays into this by shitting on the offense every game. Opposing coaches shit on it too.

CPJ bears some fault for this. His refusal to "modernize" his offense makes it subject to media and opposition attacks. What we do isn't all that different from what Ohio State does (Urban learned from CPJ). There is a huge difference in perception though. It's up to CPJ to go out and wax the oxidation off his offense.

look at their stats and you will know who's offense he was running. Chalk up another 11 win season for the TO/SO/FB. I easily see a pattern wherever he coaches. ööööing wins.

The first one you can't put on him. The second one he tripped and lost the ball - hard to put that on blocking.

if you can call most of those bowls.. that was a streak that a mediocre team could point to.
