Collins speaks

Collins would do himself a favor by simply stop talking. He digs himself further and further with every paragraph. Success at Temple? It’s only taken him 5 years as a head coach to realize it‘s all on him? He obviously doesn’t know how to talk to adults and has thin skin when challenged. He’s spent his entire adult life dealing with 18-22 year olds over whom he has authority and this what you get. It’s what you hear from a 70 year old who has been a county Sheriff for 40 years. I hope he succeeds but this guy has zero awareness.

I am also interested to know. I was going to defend him because it seems like people are bitching about him doing what everyone has wanted him to do all year (take responsibility, less juice, etc.), but if he brought up Temple again that is pretty indefensible.

People complain when he doesn't talk. People complain when he does talk.

I try my best to understand what he says in his pressers, but I usually come away even more confused.
He is like a broken record in his use of words.
His use of those phrases and words that he often uses is what must have impressed Todd Stansbury, Huh?
One thing for sure he is all "about himself," isn't he?

If that one confused you, go back and listen to some of Thacker's. Lots of fancy words and complicated sentences, but little substance.

So it must be something other than just talking that he needs to do. The Pastner radio show I commented on in the bball forum is what coaches should be doing. We're on a three game skid in which we've looked really pretty bad in two of the games. Pastner took responsibility for that, and communicated pretty clearly an example of what we need to do differently, and how he tries to coach the players to do it.

I'd love to see CGC talk about what's going on in the secondary. Pointing out what players are doing wrong isn't the same as 'throwing players under the bus' if he simultaneously takes responsibility for not teaching it properly, and then explains what he's going to do to teach it properly.

Pastner also takes calls and questions from the fans and answers every email. While some of that is over the top, he understands who the customers are. Collins should be forced to take calls on his show, and Covid allowing, force him to actually engage with the fans in person.
