Collins speaks

Like our defense is full of öööö and it's only any good if you believe hard enough and there's occasionally a guy at a pulpit preaching that it's actually really good but some people don't want to see it?

Like "Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived"

I get that. For me, the past 3 weeks where we had zero football and zero Collins actually had me on the upswing. Even with losing Gibbs and Willis I was starting to go back to my optimistic side.

Then I watch 30 minutes of our coach dance with his baseball hat pulled down like he’s on a surveillance tape. It took me right back to 100-0. Seriously, what did he say that indicates anything? He’s been a head coach for 5 years and he acts like a middle school coach - he’s sad his boss made him fire his best friend who ran an offense that couldn’t score. Then he tells us what good of family men his friends are. Seriously? This is a freaking business, not family dinner. And every person he’s ever come across he’s known for over 20 years. Why does he think we care or believe him. We should have listened when Temple fans cheered that we took him off their hands.

All the words have been spoken. We get it. He’s going to reconsider his process and work hard. Things any normal coach would have done after one 3-9 season. The only that matters moving forward is the scoreboard. He’s in year 4, not 1.
It's really only year two. Got hired too late for full crooting in 2019, and then 2020 was the Wuhan Chinese Flu. So 2022 will be Year Two. 2023 will be Year Three. If no progress after that, then I think he'll be on the hot seat.

I try my best to understand what he says in his presser, but I usually come away even more confused.
He is like a broken record in his use of words.
His use of those phrases and words that he often uses is what must have impressed Todd Stansbury, Huh?
One thing for sure he is all "about himself," isn't he?
That’s who he is talking to. He’s trying to convince himself.

Nope. Next year is year one. After the big reset this year. Or year 0. Or whatever.

Next year is it. New OC, three years to recruit a backup QB that can score points, taking over the defense. Time to lay down the cards

I thought it was probably near the top of the press conferences CGC has held. The tone was definitely different with only a few cringeworthy moments. He acknowledged that he needs to spend more time on the football side (which we've been asking for). I think his point about being a successful DC in the past was his way of saying that the product we had last year (giving him a pass for the first two years for the greatest transformation in ever, even though I shouldn't) was unacceptable and below the standards he should be held to.

He acknowledged that Thacker is still the DC, but he will be spending the majority of his coaching time on that side of the ball. I think he recognizes that he dropped the ball here. His attitude was that the transition was on the offensive side of the ball and recruiting, which was true. He just figured the defense would be a non-issue (which it should have been). He gave Thacker too much leeway and he needs to stop that.

I'd love to see CGC talk about what's going on in the secondary. Pointing out what players are doing wrong isn't the same as 'throwing players under the bus' if he simultaneously takes responsibility for not teaching it properly, and then explains what he's going to do to teach it properly.
I think he answered that, or he thinks he did. He said that when they were able to add a 10th assistant, he split up the DB room into corners and safeties, which led to a less cohesive unit and poor communication. He's changing that back by bringing in Tillman to coach all of them.

True narcissists are completely incapable of admitting failure, i wonder if that is why he fired Pnut but kept Thacker? No doubt Collins has had a heavy hand in the defense planning, practice etc the whole time and has been mentoring Thacker to mold him in his image, to have fired Thacker would be like firing himself basically.

new non-football word of the week "deep dive"
clearly if you say "deep dive" enough times everyone will see the progress.
spring practice in February?

Buzz words r fun.

Seriously though, the highlight is him saying less culture building, more football. Obviously he got the message from someone. Just F’n WIN. His words are empty until there are on field results and everyone including Geoff knows that.
