Um, no. He wasn't there, ya mow ran.Same “elite defensive coordinator”’that we gauged for almost 500 yards and 50 points in The Orange Bowl.
Like "Adam knew Eve his wife, and they raised Cain"
@GTRules you big cried this. I’m just trying to figure out if it’s because you’re actually optimistic, or are you trying to be optimistic or are you just trying not to spew hate on the football board. The unfortunate truth is our coach is a moron. He got up and said he’s now installed the culture so now he can work on actual football. I wish someone would have asked him: “At any point during last season, did you consider putting the culture aside and focusing your energy on helping put your elite defense on the field?”
He just doesn’t have a clue. He has no idea what he’s going to do. He’s just talking the game and hoping it all comes together. As I said during the season, he’s learning on the job. Seeing as how we’re stuck with him, I hope he learns fast. But my confidence in him is gone.
Neil Boortz used to be a speech writer for Lester Maddox. Since he retired from WSB I’m sure he has the time to write the coach’s speeches. I’m assuming he is still around.Jeff seriously needs a "speech" writer. Everything he says is just dysfunctional to the current situation.
If he tells fans "be a goldfish" during a press conference then you may be right.I think they got this from an episode of Ted Lasso.
Quotes yourself and cried about getting a big cry. Nice.@GTRules you big cried this. I’m just trying to figure out if it’s because you’re actually optimistic, or are you trying to be optimistic or are you just trying not to spew hate on the football board.
If I should be more hopeful, trust me, I’d love to know why (outside of the reason that I’m obligated to be because Tech is my school).
He and some others whine in any thread where someone is critical. They’re heavy on the Hive vibes at this point.@GTRules you big cried this. No but I might call one that can't correctly spell Saban an idiot. When your team is losing lotsa games, it always cracks me up for you guys to be parsing every word to twist it into a negative, then declaring the coach is an idiot when you’ve never even seen the man in person.
I watched this on O’Leary, Gailey, and Johnson even though they won more than they lost and now it’s Collins turn. I don’t know if he’ll turn it around or not, but you guys would call Sabin an idiot if he was coaching here.

If he knew how to fix the defense,he would have already done it.
Don't we wish our defensive backs could do that? You cannot be serious. Please tell me you're not serious. Nobody is parsing anything. He is horrible and his pressers only confirm it every time. It's the height of silliness to put his communication on the same level with any of those past coaches. Imagine this guy on an actual call-in show. Deflection, deflection, deflection.
Maybe @GTRules just knows that starting every post with "coach is a moron" just isn't a productive statement. Collins absolutely will be our coach next season. He is hanging by a thread, but he is our coach. It would be nice to start taking constructive looks at what we are doing and what needs to be done BY OUR CURRENT STAFF. Not Urban Meyer. Not "we are hiring Nick Saban". No fantasies about a billionaire coming in and buying is a $9 million per year coach. He and some others whine in any thread where someone is critical. They’re heavy on the Hive vibes at this point.
Will attempt at a civil discussion here. I agree with you but wonder what makes you think we can find any OL transfers that will help us. Honestly, I think the current staff has taken 4 from the portal and it seems to me that one has been average and the other 3 well below that. What is it that is going to change about this when you have the same coaches evaluating and coaching these players?Maybe @GTRules just knows that starting every post with "coach is a moron" just isn't a productive statement. Our recruiting class was low on numbers, but we got what we needed, 2 four star DT's being the crown on it.
It would be nice to talk Gibbs out of leaving. With Mason gone, there will be plenty of carries for a three headed monster. Our freshmen coming in at RB need to redshirt, but I would like to see them play the max amount of games to get some experience and still be able to RS.
Hopefully our kicker is a game changer. No telling how many games we took ourselves out of because we either missed FG's or didn't take FG opportunities because we already knew any attempt was a long shot.
Now on to the portal or grad students. Hopefully, like I mentioned, we sway Gibbs back home. We need some good, experienced OL.
I would think we could look at some of those big guys out of a place like Michigan or Ohio State looking for a grad degree. I don't know who we have eyes on. I suspect we have some in pocket who are unannounced because of bowl season and once bowls are complete, they announce for us. Makes sense to not disrupt any bowl they are playing in.
In our defense, both of our major OL transfers occurred during a weird Covid period. One decided to skip football for a season and it was painfully obvious he was done with football during the season. There has been somewhat of a return to normalcy and this portal class recruiting season just doesn't seem as weird as the prior ones. I have faith we are approaching the portal aggressivelyWill attempt at a civil discussion here. I agree with you but wonder what makes you think we can find any OL transfers that will help us. This is the same as saying parents whine when they scold a child for throwing a tantrum in the middle of the store. He and some others whine in any thread where someone is critical. They’re heavy on the Hive vibes at this point.
Except the rest of us are the parent in the grocery store who sees his kid kicking and screaming and decides to let him tire himself out, while we grab another case of beer. This is the same as saying parents whine when they scold a child for throwing a tantrum in the middle of the store.
Derogatory slurs about the staff and the same vacuous commentary in every thread isn’t “criticism”. It’s coping because you can’t control yourselves and use a message board for group therapy.
“Clown man bad”
Not sure that we faced anything that others haven't faced but in addition to the OL transfers not panning out, we had a true freshman start on the OL two years ago that seemed to regress last year. Just not sure what convinces anyone that we have the capability to take transfers and make them better. We can only hope.....In our defense, both of our major OL transfers occurred during a weird Covid period. We got the TE from Syracuse because he is done for the season. I believe there are portal players committed to us who are still to play a bowl game
So we can play the "they will all suck because of staff" game or we can believe the new OC and Key will bring in some needed, quality players. One way or the other, we have to get to work.
I do suspect we need a rework of our S&C program. Not sure what we are doing is paying off. We need to look at our workouts being specific to positions. Our DB's looked jacked, but slow. I would bet Juanyeh Thomas will lose weight training for the combine to pick up speed. Should have been how he played this last season.
