Commitment

So what happens if we blow out Pitt this weekend? Do people stop complaining so much? Or do people just say "oh this was an aberration, wait until we play <other opponent>!!!1111!!"

(not that I expect us to blow them out but it has been done before in [season year redacted due to causing triggering])

@Diseqc will continue trolling and complaining because he wants CPJ fired but he's too much of a pussy to come out and say it. Instead he just makes stupid polls about whether people like the offense or not.

You are fully retarded if you think Johnson blames his players more than himself.

Yes, but we see now he's decided to blame GTAA commitment that he can't get players good enough to blame if they didn't win enough.

Look I can understand the self deprecation from some of you losers because I know most of you grew up as nerd losers, you were losers in college and you made some money after college but in essence you're still losers. But save the butthurt for the end of the season, not after we just lost to two top 15 opponents and we're still 3-2 with 7 games ahead of us. It will be better this year. This downward spiral of shit where everyone blames everybody is stupid and not constructive, especially when we still have 58% of the season left to play. The constant bitching and negativity is not conducive to any of our problems. In fact it makes it worse. Yes, winning puts butts in seats but this level of butthurt also makes a fanbase more broken and makes us the fans and the team vassals to our misfortune. That's not what we need right now. We need to come together and believe in victory and let those boys know we believe in them too. And trust your leader, at least until the end of the season. If shit isn't better by then, I will gladly join the lobby to make some changes.

All the people complaining about CPJ will love the next coach. Just like all the Braves fans who constantly bitched about Bobby Cox loved Fredi Gonzalez.
Guess we should just shut up and pretend to enjoy 3-9! Please sir may I have another?

I didnt read all the posts so prob a repost, but George o'leavey also whined like this. If all the coaches do, then does that start to establish a pattern? What pattern?

O'Leary mentioned it while he was on a 3 game winning streak vs UGA.

Not after turning in a dump and blaming it on the players.

Look asshole. We can't afford to fire him, ok? and we don't have money for someone better. So you can continue bitching for the next three four years, or you can pony up the cash to hire the messiah who will fix everything, and make the plants grow again, and fix the ecomony.

I'm not sure this is actually true, because the extension Bobinski negotiated actually has an advantageous buyout for the school:

Johnson’s four-year extension, which replaces the final two years of the previous agreement and runs through 2020, is worth a total of $18.1 million, an annual average of $3.02 million.
...
He would receive the full remaining value of the 2015, 2016 and 2017 seasons, if terminated before then, but the buyout would be reduced to $1 million per season for the final three years.

So to fire him at the end of the season would cost like $6 million, which I bet we could come up with. Of course, it would drop by half at the end of the 2017 season, so unless we really tank this season I'd expect the next one to be what the new AD is looking at as do-or-die for him.

He's averaged 7.6 wins a season at Tech with a stddev of 2.5.
So has every other coach we've had since Lewis. Hell, include Bobby Ross in that bucket as well. What are you going to change that will make a difference? It's obvious something other than a new coach is needed. Well, to rational people.

actually he harped on it all the time, including after getting blasted by FSU
i was the guy that was responsible for walking him to the Lunch with George events and believe me, i know how often he bitched about it

My guess without doing the calculations is a similar average but tighter stddev.

I don't think I've ever advocated being Gailey back.

You know everybody's saying you're a FOC, right?

I promise that if I become Joe Jamail rich, I'll make a big donation to Tech athletics. So, everyone just needs to send me big cases and this discussion is moot.
