Commitment

You don't need to know the transistive property to know that if Mark Richt owns Johnson then Bud Foster is at least a co-signer on the deed. VT is gonna rape and pillage.
Simulated Akinji response: OMG we beat them in 2009

We also went to a bowl game every year for 20 years until he was running the team with his offense. I can use my eyeballs and own brain to make that connection.

You wouldn't give up trips to the Emerald bowl in order to get to the Orange Bowl. Got it.

Is that the same bowl streak we didn't really care about during those 20 years because 'everyone goes to bowls nowadays' and 'LOL@6-7 GT playing in a bowl game'?

Literally the only argument you guys have for Johnson is the 2014 Orange Bowl.

Simulated diseqc response: fsu barely lost to UNC and got destroyed by a Louisville who barely lost to Clemson who destroyed us and UNC barely beat Pitt so we're losing the next 5 games.

Plus, an ACC championship, 2x more ACC championship appearances, a Peach Bowl, and another Orange Bowl...if you only want to credit to significant bowls.

So you don't think we can glean any info on how we match up against VT by looking at games against common opponents?

ACC Championship*
Peach Bowl blowout loss
Another Orange Bowl crushing defeat

Ya, pretty much.

I'm a sidewalk fan so I continue to choose this horrible sports fan path in life, and I've come to accept the fact Tech is a flash in the pan program. It just is. It doesn't mean I'm not fanatical or don't care enough or don't vent or don't act like a miserable baby and ruin my wife's day when we lose. In the big picture though, that's what we are, and I don't ever (or try not to) partake in discussions or god forbid demand changes (even on the boards) because I don't see that as my place. It's y'alls school, which trumps my desire to see Tech meet Bama's commitment and results in football.

Look asshole. We can't afford to fire him, ok? and we don't have money for someone better. So you can continue bitching for the next three four years, or you can pony up the cash to hire the messiah who will fix everything, and make the plants grow again, and fix the ecomony.

If we had the things Clemson has we wouldn't need PJ. He was brought here to make up the difference. If we pay to bring in a 6 mill a year coach, which we can't, recruiting isn't getting any better.

Lot of Football to play this season though, and if he ends up 9 and 3 headed to a bowl, I'll be happy. Can't lose to that shit show in Athens this year.

First step to recovery is admitting there is a problem.

It's ok Akinji. It's not your fault.

Johnson isn't the greatest coach of all time or anything, but damn, you'd think our teams are perennially awful if you just listened to diseqc. We need a thread of just him and texstinger masturbatorily going on about how terrible CPJ is.

We can after next year. He doesn't have three years left on his contract.

So lemme get this straight. Our oline flops like catfish. CPJ's option is done. Everyone figured it out. It doesn't bring fans or recruits. JT can't run the midline. He's too small. We don't have barbershops in the locker room. We can't recruit. We have ööööty fans. The Hill constantly undermines the football program because they are evil nerds who hate jocks or something. The stadium is too big for a small fanbase like ours so the stadium sucks.

So the players suck, coaches suck, CPJ sucks, administration sucks, facilities suck, fans suck, stadium sucks. Did I cover everything?

In surprised we beat BC and Vandy with this much suckitude.

You left out Russell

There's a circular flaw to that argument though, because assets and money play an important role in generating a good product.

It is a snowball effect. Look at Baylor & TCU as examples: their facilities were essentially crumbling, but along came a coach with a great offensive scheme that got the fan base excited. Smaller success in the Mountain West/Big 12 led to more attendance and more money, and bit by bit the facilities started getting upgraded. Now TCU and Baylor both have brand new stadiums.

Little wins start to pivot income losses into profits, and with profits come more opportunity to invest, and with new assets comes bigger name recruits. A team can't turn into Alabama overnight, but several years of sustained success would go a long way in creating a better program.

OMG we're nothing like Baylor and TCU. Our players have to take calculus. Have you ever taken calculus, I don't think so.

So what happens if we blow out Pitt this weekend? Do people stop complaining so much? Or do people just say "oh this was an aberration, wait until we play <other opponent>!!!1111!!"

(not that I expect us to blow them out but it has been done before in [season year redacted due to causing triggering])

I had to take six classes. Calc 1 and 2 are cake. We don't have a recruiting or facilities problem, we have a coaching problem.
