Dear God no…

Maybe Bama isn't as good because they no longer have top pick of recruits.
This is NIL. Saban’s big pull was access to NFL coaches and an increased draft stock (potential money in the future). Now you have teams legally offering 6 and 7 figure contracts.

Sure boosters offered money in the past, but it was illegal so they had to be selective who they offered. Now those same boosters can offer anyone. Different game.

Eh. Probably a better hire than Key. Not likely to generate really strong negative reactions like O’Brien. Definitely a swing and a miss on Chadwell.

And - if our donors got in the way and ööööed up a Chadwell hire, this is what they deserve.
Sounds like Chadwell headed to USF, after he “removed himself from consideration.”

Because idiot boosters got in the way it sounds like.

If we lose a coaching hire to directional Florida we are truly at rock bottom and it’s time to explore leaving competitive athletics.

Did a search on Fritz and he is getting a ton of love in the industry right now, so this probably isn't as far out of left field as it seems.

And why is a coach with a losing record at Tulane getting such love? Really underwhelming if this is the best J Batt can do.

BOB O rollin’ on War Eagle
Yeah, rolling with Bryce Young at QB, five stars everywhere on the line and Gibbs in the backfield. Key had to make do with a 3rd string qb and numerous "below the line" in Collins lingo, and still scored a TD on Ga on the opening drive, which not one team has been able to do. I'd say O'Brien would get a serious wake up call if he gets the job and goes out to practice the first day of spring.

Because he just beat Cincinnati and won the first regular season title in a century at Tulane. Not a bad feat when you consider what he took over

Tulane is bottom barrel in terms of support.

And they play in a worse conference than the ACC. Again, if this is the best that J Batt can do, the school whiffed on the AD hire.

Hiring a 62 year old with a meh coaching record isn’t going to last long nor excite any fans or recruits for that matter.

Just keep Key at this point.

None of the guys being talked about fit Cabrera’s representations of transformative change in the AA when he fired Re-Todd and Gef. I wonder if this is all smoke and they have something else up their sleeve.

Reminds me of another former coach we hired who had 1 good season on his resume

I personally think all this talk of Fritz, Chadwell, O’brien etc is just a smokescreen to make it look like we gave lots of consideration to other candidates before we hire Key who was likely the #1 choice of the boosters all along.

Fritz is 62, and like Chadwell has zero coaching experience even as a GA or position coach at a P5 school. I would rather go BOB or Key at this point, at least they have some idea of what it takes to win in a P5 program; Fritz and Chadwell would both be on a steep learning curve. I don't want a 62 year old coach on a learning curve.

The more I think about Key the more I’m in favor of hiring someone else. I appreciate what he’s done this year, but I honestly don’t think we would even be considering him if it wasn’t for Tech Man Syndrome.
