Defense is an embarrassment

GT does not have enough quality players to compete with the Big Boys of the SEC, plus they are
glaring deficiencies with some of the coaching staff.
Shirley you can't be referring to *cough*thakattacker*cough* Does anybody recall how we were demanding a change at DC and then when CBK took over it was suudenly ok that DC didn't change? It's time for change on D. Radical change. Like tomorrow. The upcoming pressers should be interesting.

I like coach Key. I hope he coaches us to another ACC crown. If he doesn't find some way to get us to, at a minimum an average defense, he will not last past year 4.

Ole miss had 3-4 of our guys on D and we had 3 BIG time players in the nfl so do the math Now the calls on D are a concern
Yah, it’s just not fair that we are the only team to lose players to the NFL and that we lose players to the transfer portal.

I mean when we can't get 5 star's like the mutts and can't develop talent cause of the damn portal and it's the best players for us that do it can add up somewhat

We have a long line of bad D coordinators. Womack, Roof, Grobe, that guy during CPJ's last year, currently stuck on CGC's protege.

I'm beginning to think maybe it is just Georgia Tech.
I think nate woody actually had some decent games for us if I remember right

Year 4? Something needs to happen next week. Key's in a rebuild and he knows it. The next couple years may not be what we want as the program changes and we get in new recruiting claases and transfers. Change takes time. 2 years is totally reasonable. 3 is not out of the question. But Thacker is a problem that we should've cut bait with when we showed ******* and TS the door. I don't understand how he was retained. He clearly belongs coaching in high school or youth league somewhere. Not at the P5 level. It's one of the immediate things that CBK is going to have to address, as well as bringing in the recruits, the sooner the better.

Yes, the D is bad, but you guys don’t have to be such whiny crybabies about it. Anyone who wants to can see the improvement the offense made in the offseason. You can only fix so much at a time, especially losing 6 starters off last year’s D. That takes time to fix, but Thacker needs to have a hot plate put under his butt for sure. The D has to show improvement week by week. Still, last night the Ole Miss O came in ranked #13 in total yards and had not gotten their run game going. That was their focus last night and they did it.

I wish I knew the solution. Hell PJ went through a bunch of DC and could not find the solution. The rules of the game favor offensive output, but I watch a lot of college football and we just rank near the bottom at the most basic principle of defense...TACKLING. That can be preached at practice and an emphasis must be put on this immediately at our next practice. I have to believe our staff does this, but it has to translate to the playing field on gameday or coaching changes are in order.

We need a vocal leader to step up. We don’t have that guy who is out there dragging everyone with him to being good.

We’ve all discussed that we lost most of our starters from last year to the portal, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard WHY that occurred, given that Thacker stayed on.

These guys that are starting for other teams, why did they leave? Did they think that Thacker was likely to get the axe at some point?

Need new horses.

Mo money.

The new college football is what the NFL would be with nothing but 1-year contracts.

As @stinger78 alluded to, it has to be about NIL - $$$. I suppose in some instances it could be about wanting to leave a losing program for a winning program, degree/grades, coaching changes, etc.

College football is the NFL without the salary cap. I hate it, but this is the new world order of college football, and sports in general.
