Did Bbbuzzzooooffff call it quits...

Find one instance where i have personally attacked a fellow poster and get back to me.

I said you were inflammatory. You are. Then I laughed at the inflammatory guy trying to be the voice of reason. It's comedic. /shrug.

I would never condone such a practice. I asked the Mod on BO and he said he never stalked you or anyone. Did you just make that up or can you prove he stalked you by posting or pm-ing me his so called stalk pm/email to you.
Would, say, an unprompted email calling me an angry asshole in response to a Stingtalk thread, well after I was booted from Buzzoff count? That would seem to qualify in my book, seeing how he'd have to follow me on another board, then use his moderator privileges look my email up in his database, then send the email.

Right?

I suppose now we get to have an argument about what the definition of "Stalking" is, so you can defend your Cult of Personality?

You're pathetic.

Huh, typically when you quote someone, and post something immediately after that quote, you're responding to the person you quoted.

My bad. I guess. ?

and that is what this whole big deal of you making an exit from BBuzzoff? I thought this was a big deal, and he signed it "love", jesus beej, he banned you 1 GD day, Jonathan banned you a friggin year and a half.

beej67
made a mountain out of a mole hill

i didnt have to pay anything for my undergrad. between Natl Merit and other awards, i got a free ride.

the players are not just getting a "free education" they are doing extra work too. or did you sweat for hours during practice and get bloodied and not be able to go out with friends or study because you have a meeting to go to??

they are NOT getting paid. all the hope scholars get more than the athletes do. they get free classes, but also additionaly responsibilities

fringe benefits? like what? like getting your name in the paper if you get arrested (wouldnt happen to a regular student) dealing with professors that treat you like an idiot BECAUSE you are playing sports? there are just as many downsides as upsides, dont kid yourselves

i am sick of hearing garbage from people like you that think its all fun and games to be an athlete at Tech. it is HARD AS ****. i bet you couldnt do it, with all the commitments. to claim that they are getting paid, when they typically cant use any money to do anything they WANT to do rather than HAVE to do is a joke

you are just plain wrong

Really, I was a scholorship athlete at Tech...were you?

No, that was way earlier. I'd forgotten about that place until...

1) Beebad read something I posted on another internet forum,

2) Beebad dug through his database of email addresses. You know, the one where they say: "We promise not to do anything with your email address, under penalty of law." That one.

3) Beebad emailed me an insult he just haaaaad to get off his chest.

If I really cared, I'd fish around his board and find what sort of privacy statement you click when you make an account, just to see if they violated it. But I'm sure he's reading this now, and I'm sure he's cackling like a nerd on a Mountain Dew high, changing the text of it as we speak, just like he used to change the text of people's posts who he was arguing against, so he could "win the internet."

no, i had my first ACL go bad before then, so never made it on athletic scholly to Tech, but knew lots of them during my two stints there, including when i worked at the AA w/ Jolein for a while

you obviously have a different perspective on it, but my opinion is that if you cant do with the money what you want, then you are not getting paid

if you trade this for that, thats what it is. a trade.

and i still dont think that the players should be booed as they are getting far less from the I than the I gets for them. Lets compare scholarship cost for FB players to ACC FB TV contract revenues, for example...

If James Johnson keeps dropping passes and whining to the media like a baby next year, I think the hell he catches from Paul Johnson will be 100x worse than the smattering of boos the team received last year. If they are bothered that much by the booing(none of which was really malicious in the sense that some NYY fans truly felt ill will towards A-Rod), then they are probably too soft(which they were last year). Hopefully Paul comes in and fixes that.

I for one never let the booing bother me and believe me in the mid 80's there was a lot of it. If the fans pay good money for the game they have the right to do it. Now saying that I would never do it today because I think some of the kids are very soft and it would affect them somewhat more than it did in my day.

i never said that i think the players get their feelings hurt. i think it is a total lack of class by the fans and the wrong way to act around kids. i think that the GT fanbase can be better than a bunch of drunken rednecks and not have to boo during a collegiate event, or curse or whatever comes right after boo in the 'intolerable idiot fan behavior' guide

its supposed to be a fun, good time. i also hope that the competition is good and honest and the boys in GOLD and WHITE win. but for me, college is not a 'win at all cost' proposition, otherwise we would lower standards, offer basketweaving as a degree and pay players

Go Jackets!

You didn't have to say it. James Johnson said it himself, to the media, after we got thumped on national television by Virginia Tech, which I guess didn't hurt his feelings as much.

You say you never let it bother you, but did it ever help matters? Were you inspired because you were being booed by your own "fans"? (It could certainly be a boost to be booed by the opposition.)

And if it didn't help your performance, are you sure it didn't hurt it?

And tell me, what else matters in the end?
In the end? Certainly not a sporting event to the extent that my sole existence lies in seeing that the head coach is fired for reaching the wrong bowl game or losing the conference championship or whether we sign the next two and a half-star recruit that looks at us cross-eyed. There a ****loads of things that matter in the end. Sports isn't one of them.

Regardless of what you think of buzzoff, it does serve a purpose. IMO, it's like a giant idiot magnet floating around sucking up morons from legitimate discussion boards. Anyone with a sense of decorum who unfortunately happens by realizes very quickly the error of their keystroke and vacates before any stinch can rub off on them. Those who are fond of hating life and themselves who land there find a happy home and leave the rest of us alone.

So I say long live buzzoff, the imbecile vacuum that helps keep our board clean!

Great tagline! :laugher:

Everyone has their own way of getting motivated, some beat their head against the wall, some listen to crap music, some sit by themselves.

For me personally the fear of failure motivates me, If I hear booing I try to solve the problem and most around me at that time did the same.

Some kids today are soft, not intended to insult but I see kids everyday buckle and it didn't use to be that way or at least the percentages are a lot higher now.

My kids don't always like me because I'm hard as hell on them but they understand why, they just don't like it. 18 to 22 y/o kids don't have enough sense to make the right decision so I'm glad CPJ here to instill the discipline back in this team.

Sorry for ramblin'

QFT. I'm sure that makes us "soft" :hsugh:

I am not a booer myself (I'm a whiner thank you very much) but doesn't "not booing" = "accepting mediocrity" when the team is doing lousy? I thought "accepting mediocrity" was the biggest sin known to mankind.

The world is full of a-holes so at some point in time our delicate student-athletes are going to be told in blunt terms they are not good enough, either by an employer or a spouse or their business competitor or the stock market or their customers or somebody, so maybe a little booing when they suck helps them prepare for the real world. Our athletic programs are supposed to be developing well-rounded individuals, right? If they are that delicate why keep score? Their feelings may get hurt by the other team. They aren't 4-year-olds. I'm not talking about booing physical mistakes, I am talking about booing mental errors and obvious half-assed efforts.

Oh, and Mover, you should occasionally thank God you aren't about 3 years older. I was in the stands watching those poor guys struggle.
