Domineck Gone

It not just this one player, it's the cumulation of defects over the last three months. Collins defenders like to argue that he is a master recruiter and that the talent level is improved while the actual talent is headed out the door.
According to 247 we had a net gain in the transfer portal.

6. GEORGIA TECH
Departures: 11 (84.79)
Newcomers: 7 (86.71)
Net gain: +1.92
Georgia Tech lost a pair of 4-star players to SEC teams in the portal, including Jahmyr Gibbs, who rushed for a team-best 746 yards in 2021. Still, despite its top two portal transactions chalked up as departures, the Yellowjackets have upgraded the roster on paper, according to 247Sports. Offensive tackle Ahmari Harvey transferred from nearby Auburn, Clemson guard Paul Tchio is also committed and Notre Dame safety Khari Gee is enrolled in classes. The position to watch is quarterback, where only incumbent Jeff Sims (1,468 yards, 12 TDs, 7 INTs) returns after the Yellowjackets lost four signal callers. Akron quarterback Zach Gibson is set to join the Yellowjackets after throwing for 1,262 yards and 10 touchdowns with zero interceptions last season, and will challenge Sims for the starting job under new coordinator Chris Weinke.

A few days later this tweet went out which I assume suggests we moved up to 4th in the ACC after that article was posted.

Unless he catches on with Kennesaw State or another FCS bunch, my hope is that he enters and finds himself without a scholarship. I'm done with these thugs saying they are blessed and thanking God then jumping ship via twitter. I'm also done with fans wishing them the best. Why? Lack of loyalty works both ways.
it's just bodies in uni's at this point. really makes you wonder who are you rooting for. basically just the institute itself. cause there is no loyalty with coaches or players. save a tiny minority.

at least in the pros you can put someone under contract and keep them around a few years.

Difference here is that he graduated. He is forever a Georgia Tech man with that degree. And yet you choose to call him a “thug”. Not sure how entering the portal makes one a “thug”. Maybe you don’t understand the meaning of the word. My guess is that it’s just a term that you like throwing around with black athletes.

Don’t like the portal? Ok. But don’t blame the young men for the system.

Dude, he graduated. Gave us 4 years and got his degree. Anything else is always a bonus.

Telling word choice, though.

Damn. That's disappointing. I'm not sure on his consistency, but when he made plays, they were big ones. Good luck.

If we have a (pending) grad transferring I just assume Tech rejected his Master's program application as my first reaction.

I suspect we are the only P5 program where this would even be a possibility.
I seem to recall this happening a few years back - we lost a guy because the Business School didn't accept him for the MBA program. Forgot who but think it was an OL.

We can’t still pull from the transfer portal now
Is this a question or statement? We can but they can't join the team until summer. We likely wouldn't have filled JD's spot in spring anyway. Staff have known his plans for some time now and his original plan was to wait until after spring to make the final decision, but apparently something changed. Maybe he didn't like how the new coach wanted to use him? Who knows? We had spots available already if the coaches thought they needed to get another DE in for spring. IIRC we have 5 spots open, and I expect 2-3 more will probably leave after spring when they see where everything shakes out. Folks will also be leaving other programs after spring in the same manner so I think its a good idea to save those few spots for then anyway.

Why didn’t we see him at all? Redshirt allows 4 games, and I know Blackburn got injured before the season (ACL right?). He could turn out to be our version of Kyle Pitts, so I’m not too worried about the receiver core yet.
I don't want to put words in his mouth but I think he meant Blackburn. He's the one that was "wow"ing everybody last spring/summer before he got hurt. I don't think Blackstrain was quite college game ready and maybe we'll see him some this year. I had really high hopes for Ryan King also but he's had a little bit of the injury bug. Hopefully he stays healthy this year and makes a jump. Same goes for Avery Boyd.

I’m not worried about our receivers and I have a hunch that Weinke is going to make Simms a much better quartback.

I would rather have three average receivers and a great QB than 3 great receivers and an average QB.

Oh holy hell. Every program has lost players to the portal, even Alabama. Georgia just won a damn national championship and they've lost players in the portal.

Some of you guys would bitch about anything.

HE GRADUATED, YOU FRIGGING MORON. He didn't jump a ship. You're an idiot.

Yes, the academic side of GT like to sniff their own farts.

I can understand that, but Blackstrain is our highest rated recruit from his class. Would’ve been nice to at least see him some in garbage time or something.
