DT Mike Lockhart Gone

The money has been there all along. The Athletics Board, including TStan, admitted that when the decision was made not to fire Collins. TStan essentially staked his career on keeping Collins, and he will probably end up losing his career as a result of it, unless he changes his mind now.

Nothing would be accomplished firing him now. You can't find a replacement at this stage and even more players would leave. It would be disastrous. You gotta roll with him next year.

He’s painted himself into a corner with his “he’s my guy” attitude. Between that and the buyout $ he’s stuck. Have to think the higher ups are already compiling a list of TStan successors.
Well, seeing as Cabrera's basic message was stte: "don't pay people not to do their jobs" I really don't think this problem is going anywhere quickly enough. To an extent, I agree with him considering the debt held by the GTAA. If we want things to change, the $14 million per year debt service needs to go away. It's ludicrous how long we've kicked that can down the road.

If there is someone already on the staff who could serve at least as an interim, and I repeat IF, then I believe that would minimized the damage. We got rid of Lewis mid-season and were better off, but we obviously already had someone on the staff who was a capable immediate replacement.

Good Point!
makes the ADTS letter humerous where he said the team and Gooff's performance were Unacceptable.
Having the money and then not firing Gooff and Thacker is what's really Unacceptable.
So much for getting a "Money Down" when you really really needed it.

Number 11, how far is this gonna go?
I hope this recent batch signals that there have been some candid conversations about where these guys stand and their departures are the result. I'll gladly take more transfers that want to work over those that feel entitled to start because of seniority or "loyalty". Assuming that's what's shaking out right now, "as many as it takes" is my answer.

I just don’t feel like the reason is PT. I think it’s that Collins is way too loyal to his staff, especially Thack. Players expected a change and it didn’t really happen. Lockhart, Walker, and a few others were either starters or solidified rotation pieces. We can’t afford to lose more depth and we ESPECIALLY can’t afford to lose more experience.

I just don't feel like you have any damn clue and are just prognosticating, based on your preconceived notions.

so why would that be necessary,
doesn't the current occupant of our HC position already say "Competition IS King" ?

Maybe Gef and Tod are double agents hired by the Hill to accomplish their long desired goal of eliminating football.

Are you asking why he would let them know where they currently stand now instead of only after practice is over? I don't know their particular reasoning but if that's what's going on they're being more transparent doing so.

No, why would players feel entitled to start because of seniority or "loyalty" ,
unless "Competition IS King" is more of a slogan than a policy?

Well seeing that the majority of these guys were starters, and nobodies coming in to challenge their spots, then that pretty much shows that it’s not PT. Yates, Peery, and Edmunds were probably PT reasons, but other than that, not too many of these guys had a solid gripe on not playing.

It’s going to be disastrous either way. We are 1-3 win team next year. The incoming coach will inherit a team with no upperclassmen, and you can bet that any of Geoff’s recruits that stil believe in him will bolt.
This is a total dumpster fire

In your scenario that would be a lack of understanding on the player's behalf that competition would not apply to them. As for why players feel feelings, you'll have to ask them yourself. That's too philosophical for me.
