Duke post game thread

I call me like I see em. Even the announcers were making fun of that game.
Sloppy game for the most part, but I thought Sims played solid. Running backs looked good, and some of the guys on defense played well, like Kaleb Oliver, Domineck, and even Curry. But yeah, we're lucky it was Duke out there...

And why are we still trying to field punts at the 5 yard line?

I've never returned punts, cause I really sucked at football, but I always heard you plant your butt at the 7 or so yard line in that case and don't dare go backwards to catch the punt.

I do think his attempt to catch it was partially due to the prior punt being 70 yards. May have been attempting to make up for that.

Ok - I'll go ahead and admit that I have no ideal what this is about.

This stat just started with Collins. Every player wears a device that tracks their movements on the field.

Apparantly, Curry covered the most ground in a game since this has been tracked.

Thanks for the explanation.

They've been doing this in actual football (aka "soccer") for a long time. If my math is right, they are claiming that Curry ran about 5.6 miles. Seems like a lot. Runner's World says that the positions that run the most in American football are receivers and CBs, and they only average about 1.25 miles per game. Even the average soccer player only runs 7 miles per game, and that is pretty much all they do for most of an hour and a half of non-stop game action.

I'm wondering if someone along the way botched this and it should have been 9859 feet rather than yards, which would be about 1.86 miles. 1.86 miles would still be a lot for a college linebacker.

I'm labeling this . . . Likely Fake News.

Have you ever watched Curry play? He is usually out of position and has to run to try to make up for it.

He created two potential turnovers that were realized when he knocked the ball loose from the Duke RB and the tipped pass. If he did nothing else, that was still noteworthy.
And he was so close to having his own pick.

Got to be honest, how bad are we on defense to force 5 turnovers and still give up 33 to this Duke team? Just have to find a way to get the defense and ST sorted out this off-season.

Ok so we handed them the ball in the end zone for a TD because we didn't know how to field a fair catch.

And then we didn't know how to let a ball go out of bounds on a KO return, stranded our offense at the 2, and gave up a safety.

And then we gave up a FG after holding them to 0 yards after a turnover.

So the defense only really gave up 21 points. Giving up 21 to Duke in a 5 turnover game is not good, but it's better than giving up 33 to Duke in a 5 turnover game.
