VT is still a lousy academic institution in the middle of nowhere. The only reason they were ever somewhat successful was due to their lack of academic requirements.
 
We make the argument about value-add of two programs in the state for the SEC (GT and UGAY). What value add is Miss St and Ole Miss? Other than one of them having cooler uniforms and more well known history? Bottomline I still think GT is a natural fit for the SEC. Despite the haters.

Way to move the goalposts instead of just admitting you’re wrong. Your mindset is why the ACC is about to be dead, instead of a legit #3.

From 1993-2003 in the Big East, VT won less than 8 games 1 time in 1997 going 7-5. During that time they had (2) 11, (3) 10, (2) 9 and (3) 8 win seasons. Beamer clearly had it going before they entered the ACC.

From 2004-2011 in the ACC they won no less than 10-11 games a year. From 2012-2015 (Beamer’s last year) they won 7 3 times and 8 the other.

Fuente started in 2016 and had the following:

2016: 10-4
2017: 9-4
2018: 6-7
2019: 8-5
2020: 5-6
2021: 6-7

Pry took over in 2022.

2022: 3-8
2023: 7-6

VT clearly was very successful under Beamer before and after joining the ACC. Fuente had a couple very good seasons, and Pry has flipped the record in his 2nd year.

If Beamer‘s success is “quickly fading into history” than a lot of programs are in the same boat.

Well, you did prove him wrong. They didn’t peak while CCG was our coach.
