Expansion Rumors…

The B1G already beat the SEC with the 7 year TV / media contract. Simple reason why. The SEC signed a 15 year deal with ESPN. Pretty much ensuring the B1G 2 more even larger deals before the current SEC contract expires. They will in all likelihood expand to 20 teams by the next new deal, followed by up to 24 a year before the SEC can get another deal. For as great as Sankey is made out to be, Warren beat him with this latest expansion & TV deal. Good to see. The B1G TV deal is the best thing for the state of CFB. It means there’s no reason for California elite talent to go to Alabama, Clemson or tOSU. USC and UCLA to an extent can no keep the talent home.

Getting Fox, CBS and NBC involved to combat the ESPN juggernaut was brilliant on the B1G's part. You are correct about the stupidity of signing 15 year deals in this day and age. Can we hire Warren to run the ACC? Just asking.

I think College GameDay is going to look a lot different as ESPN has little reason to market the Big Ten games. This could help the ACC.

They will no longer go to B1G games. That said, Fox pregame is better than ESPN now anyway. But this pretty much means, the SEC will now get 90% of the ESPN Gameday weekly stops.

With only 14-ish weeks of CFB, I'd imagine UGAg gets one, aTm gets one, Alabama gets one, pick two from Tennessee, Auburn, Florida, USuCk. I suppose the Jacksonville game gets GameDay.

ACC will be likely FSU and/or Clemson.

Add in Oklahoma and Texas soon, and you pretty much summed it up. If they each get 1 + Red River Rivalry, it would leave maybe 3 weeks not including Army-Navy.

This is why I think this deal accelerates consolidation (as soon as the college presidents agree to a larger playoff), and I think it also is our best chance of being one of the 4 ACC teams to make the cut into the B1G without having to be a huge Brand.
Having been excluded, ESPN will pay the fee just to get access back into the B1G.

ESPN may not be able to raise the funds, they did get out of the network bidding for the B1G. With Disney stock price on the rocks, I don't see any more funds forthcoming.

IMHO, Pollack is the worst cfb analyst on the market…and that’s saying a lot. I turn the tv volume down whenever he’s on it. It’s hard to imagine how good of a player he was when you hear him try to break anything down.

If ESPN is going to have to pony up to make this happen, why wouldn't they just put that cash directly in the ACC to allow them to compete with the B1G and $EC, have them add a few BIG 12 teams and lock up the the South and East exclusively with out getting a partial?

Pollack is a homer. He has a dislike towards some teams and that shows. He is my least favorite person on ESPN.

He was the poster child for the NCAA "progress toward a degree" rule. He spent four years in Athens and never declared a degree.

Yep...he had an offer...and that was when you could take a course load that kept you eligible but never had to make progress toward a major.

Which is what CFP CFB will be in the coming years when the NCAA / APR excuse is removed and replaced with a CFP committee governing P3-4 football. So the question is, will the school continue to take this nose up attitude towards allowing players? Or will GT go back to accepting borderline players like they always did prior to flunk gate?
