Expansion

What do you want them to say? Hold a meeting like FSU to confirm we’re locked in til 2036 but puff our chests out anyways?

Also, I don’t think Stanford and Cal to B10 is a forgone conclusion like some have suggested. They bring nothing to the B10.

None of the remaining 4 add anything. They are great college traditions, but not money makers.

I think they’ll get picked up eventually if the league keeps growing, they’ll probably want a larger west coast pod in the leagues final form, but it might be a decade of waiting until the B1G fills out with the ACC teams they want first.

I see Cal like UVA, cache in being affiliated with the institution, but not bringing much otherwise for adding to the football culture of the conference. Similar for Stanford, except on a much higher level. Stanford I think can actually manage to survive as an indy for a while, they’ve got too many rich alumni not to string together their program for a while until things shake out a bit more.

At the end of the day, somebody has to take some L’s. You need atleast a couple of punching bags, not a whole league of them but you do need a couple.

Ross made a dent when he won a natty.

O’Leary made a bigger impression with TIAR. There is no mystery what it takes to gain sidewalk fans in the state.

The hard part is figuring out how to deliver wins against uga. So far you either need to hire an amazing coach (like Spurrier) or wait for them to hire a terrible coach like Goff.
Certainly didn't show up in butts in the seats. What metric are you using?

What do we know to be real right now, and what is just internet rumor?

There were more butts in seats in 91 than in 89.
There were more butts in seats in 2001 than 96. There was way more Tech gear on the streets in 2001 than today.

When we were good to n basketball, there were lots of ‘I root for Tech in basketball and georgia in football’ sidewalk fans.

Add ND and poach Penn State and viola.

Never happen. ND will only join a conference when they no longer have a path to the playoff otherwise. And that conference won’t be the ACC. Why in the hell would Penn St leave the huge $ of the Big10?

apparently they got them on the cheap

Unlike USC and UCLA, Oregon and Washington will not enter the Big Ten with full revenue shares. Sources told ESPN that both schools will receive approximately $30 million annually when they join the league, a share that will increase by $1 million during the current media contract with Fox, NBC and CBS, which runs through the 2029-30 athletic season. They then would be able to receive full shares.

ACC staying put isn't a bad thing in this situation. I'd rather stay put with what we have than to reach and add garbage pieces.

Big12 getting praised for adding Arizona, Colorado, UCF, Houston, Cincy, BYU while losing Texas and OU. Those brands combined don't make up for what they are losing, let alone on a revenue slice. Is anyone pumped for a Arizona vs. Baylor matchup? WVU - Colorado really move the needle for anyone? Adding a bunch of mediocre programs does nothing.

What good move was there available to the ACC that wasn't made this cycle? If there isn't a good move to be made, which it looks like there isn't, then roll with what you got. Just get better.

FSU needs to shut their face and win games and elevate their play before they start beating their chest like they are OSU or Bama.
FSU went from “we’ll play you anywhere, anytime” to “Hey, baby, me so horny. Me so horny. Me love you long time. You party? Fifteen dolla. Me love you long time.”
