Expansion

tbf, from what I remember reading the 30mil is still an upgrade over the PAC proposed deal with apple.
What I read is that they get a half share, but it increases to a full share overtime.

My guess is that the GOR keeps the ACC together until 2030, and by then the entire landscape will have changed.

Even if Clemson/FSU bolt, the ACC will still be valuable as a Big XII type conference with the 2nd tier teams making 2nd tier money. For plenty of the schools in the ACC, 2nd tier money is more than their alternative, so they’ll keep it together. If the ACC’s TV contract was about to come up in the next few years, I’d be worried.

And in ACC Fashion, they are investigating 2 teams that no other league wanted. If we had invited UW, Oregon, Stanford and one of the AZ schools or Utah, that might have been something. These are 2 schools in the same zip code in CA that generate no fan interest. Great job ACC leadership! No wonder everyone is looking for an exit plan from the ACC, with these great visionaries in charge.

How do you know the ACC didn't engage in those conversations?

Reportedly, the ACC was interested in adding 5-7 PAC teams, but obviously, the B1G and Big 12 gobbled them up first. Stanford, Cal, Oregon St and Washington State are all that's left if the ACC wants to expand. Otherwise, you start talking to the Temples and USF's of the world.

This.

ND needs to be forced to do something.
I agree to an extent. I mean, their strategy to date has worked perfectly for them. Almost any program in America would gladly change spots with them. Staying out of any of these conferences and some of the sh*tty deals that have been made has looked very, very smart. I'm sure FSU would love to be independent right now.

I can't blame them for not wanting to ensnare themselves in any conference and give up their power, especially given the acrimony in the ACC right now.

I'm not sure anyone can "force" them to do anything at this point. I think an expanded playoff may only help them stay independent.

Cal and Stanford are desperate. Please don’t offer them full membership.

Offer them some scammy affiliate memberships for a few years and profit from it. Humiliate them in some way. For instance, force them to get rid of the stupid tree mascot to assert dominance.

Use the profits to alleviate the revenue gap.

This isn’t the time for niceties. This is war.
Cover full cost of opposing team's travel to their home games. Including a fan allotment.

Depends on who’s left to fill out their schedule

ND doesn’t need to be forced to do anything when they have made the right decision at every point along their journey. Just because we are stupid doesn’t mean everyone else should be forced to be stupid.

The only decision ND will have to make down the road is do they join the BIG and SEC when they break away and form their own post season. Otherwise, they will just keep doing what they have been and watching others flail around.

Stanford and Cal is the dumbest idea for an ACC addition since Boston College and Syracuse. Which means the ACC will do it.

I mean, we sat on our hands while everyone else (except the PAC which has been disemboweled) fortified their positions. WVU desperately wants to be in the ACC with its rivals. Cincinnati is also hanging out in Big 12 orbit and would rather be in ACC. So we sit and allow them to get a better deal and now those options are gone, so we look at the PAC leftovers? Give me a break. Incompetence at the highest level to try to move now.

Stupid question of the day:
Is Clemson deemed super important because of the last 10 years or is there some super dynamic hidden tv audience waiting to watch their every game. SC is not that big of a state.

Depends on who’s left to fill out their schedule
There aren't likely enough programs that would voluntarily tell ND "thanks, but no thanks" to a slot on the schedule. Playing ND puts butts in the seats and dolla bills in the accounts. Not to mention the potential legal issues of putting them "off limits" to your conference members. That would very likely illicit investigations and legal action no one would want.
