News flash. Traditional rivalries are all but a thing of the past at this point. Texas-TAMU has been gone for over a decade and is now returning in 2024. Pitt-WVU died when the ACC raided the Big East and left WVU out of the mix. OU-Oklahoma State is ending after this year. Nebraska-OU ended after NU went to the B1G. New rivalries will form as a result of the current expansion.Based on the fact that no one in the conference gives a crap about UL. It’s not their fault, there is just zero history with anyone in the ACC.
WVu-Pitt and WVU-VT are marketable games because the fans get fired up. That draws attention from casual fans. So sports writers write about it. TV mentions it.
UL-Cincy is a rivalry. UL-(any ACC team) is an afterthought. The same can be said of Cuse, Wake, and BC.
The fans make the game. Why is GT/UNC a bigger draw than GT/NCSt? Because our fans care more about UNC.

Every former BE schools like BC, Cuse, Pitt, VT and Miami are still rivals whether anyone else outside of those schools cares or not. The ACC overall has a lot of small and or urban schools in NFL cities. The games won’t ever generate the buzz of PSU-OSU, LSU-Bama etc. Size of the school matters.
Yep. Other than Clemson, the ACC didn’t give a thought to natural/potential rivals for GT when assigning permanent football opponents in this brave new division-less setup. The ACC has tried to sell contrived rivalries and failed miserably. And it continues down that path.
Wouldn’t have expected much different. I don’t get why some on here want to die on the ACC hill. The ACC has never done any favors to any program outside of North CarolinaYep. We’ll get there at some point. You’ll see schools like Vandy and Rutgers jettisoned. Then you’ll see expansion again to fill the holes.Lol. Dude, there aren’t any hotties left by 2 am. You’re just a chubby chaser.
My point stands. What is left of the PAC and the B12 have too many low interest schools. Baylor can not prop up Iowa State and Kansas. Having Kansas/KSU, UA/ASU, and Utah/BYU in the same conference is a money loser.
The ACC is in the same boat. You could pick 9 schools from the 14, keep the ND contract, and still get 80% of the money in the contract. That’s a 24% increase in revenue. But you can’t pick foolishly.
Expansion is not the only answer.
you got a link? We’ll get there at some point. You’ll see schools like Vandy and Rutgers jettisoned. Then you’ll see expansion again to fill the holes.
Come on already. Texas is NOT moving into the SEC because of old SWC rivalries with Arkansas and TAMU. Texas is moving into the SEC because of guaranteed $$$. Keep in mind who did not want Texas to join….TAMU. TAMU did everything to prevent the move, but was outvoted by every other SEC school.Texas is moving into a conference because of the rivalries. The SEC now has TX-OU, TX-ATM, and TX-Ark to sell. Those are interesting games even when one or both teams are down.
Ratings will be better for Mizzou-Kansas than for Mizzou-KY. There are two ways to get interesting games. Either you need good teams or rivalries.
The ACC has tried to sell contrived rivalries and failed miserably. And it continues down that path.
It is too lateJust don’t seeing the ACC voting for expansion, we will wait till it’s too late.

Fact is, Texas was losing recruits to TAMU aka losing their stranglehold on the state. Oklahoma is joining as a tagalong like UCLA with USC.
If you truly think a swap (ACC, B12) between the current state of the WVU and Louisville programs would elevate TV viewership by all that much, you’re only kidding yourself.
That was until Pac-12 insider Jon Wilner reported that something could be going down in the next 24 hours.
“My hunch is the next 24 hours will provide clarity on the ACC front — and that momentum is currently trending in favor of the Bears and Cardinal,” Wilner wrote on the app formerly known as Twitter. “But we shall see.”
I’m not saying we would get WVU. It is just they are a better fit for us financially than most schools. The ACC and the Big12 would be better off swapping UL and WVU.
Finally, an article from a proper news outlet and not just some Twitter rumor.

Don't get Bob Benson excitedAn ACC team having a bad season could road trip to USA's outdoor defecation capitol
to legally take a crap in the street.
That would cheer them up!
