Expansion

It’s all shrouded in mystery, as there are several fight songs with similar tunes/lyrics. But the reference to “the farm” in White and Gold has no particular meaning in GT lore (other than a retroactive interpretation disparaging our cow college rival), while “Stanford Farm” was/is(?) explicitly a thing.

Cal speculates that we swiped it at the 1929 Rose Bowl, but Tech dates our version of the song earlier than that. I think Cal claims 1913 and Tech claims 1918, or something like that.

Also take a look at the Colorado School of Mines fight song…

I take it you and @Supersize that order mutt haven't been staying on top of this thread. There was a GT/Cal alum a few pages back that enlightened us.

Oh I so agree with you on this - the Tarholes thought they owned the ACC - not so fast a,,holes.
One reason and one reason only that UNCheat didn’t want this;: it waters down their influence in conference by about 20% more. For that one reason and one reason only I’m for it. Let’s also see if we get the TV contract look-in we all want - Texas and California are now ACCN territory.

Ultimately, this keeps the ACC (and GT) at the big boy's table for a few years as part of the Power (4?) that will make the decisions on the CFP. Cabrera and Batt's mission is to position us for the next round of consolidation in a few years. Sometimes, kicking the can down the road is the right move when there are no immediate solutions available. I actually credit Phillips for getting this through in a divided conference. He may have half a clue compared to Swofford. When was the last time the ACC made a move that UNC was vocally against?

Agreed - I don't think Swofford would have allowed UNC to lose a conference vote. Proud of Phillips.

Traveling to UWa can be a nice trip. Traveling to Wazzu not so much. Huge difference in traveling to those 2 schools that I think some posters who want us to add Wazzu miss.
depends on what kind of scenery you like, but yeah West vs East Washington is very different.
