Gold Z, you stole my rebuttal to lawb regarding 10 flunks. We were lucky that the debacle did not occur after summer, but that is the past.
When have we ever been so fortunate as to not lose a starter to injury? That is incredible. I think the reasons for this are two-fold. Gailey has been experienced with dealing with a small squad (NFL) and believes in not killing the guys during the week, but these 300+ lb. lineman are just getting comfortable with their bodies and need constant attention in conditioning, strength, etc., and I fear they are being neglected. (28 days is a long layoff)
Lawb-I think you are on to something regarding the WRs. Maybe the coaches are experienced with NFL type guys who are 99% beyond the current skill level of our guys. Not necessarily athleticism, but learned skills. This is a deficiency IMHO. Also, if Grant was damaged goods, why didn't we sign another running back?
I think Tenuta is a risk taker and his defense has been fun to watch given the fact how boring the offense is. But with risks, comes highs/lows. I listened to the game, and saw Clemson and ByWhoo. I think Tenuta was out schemed in both of those contests.
People have heard rumblings of movement on the staff. I think Gailey is aware of some of the shortcomings of the staff, and hopefully, he will address them in the off-season.
It is obvious that some in the Tech neigborhood have warmed to Gailey, but hate to see us be the one that was the sacrifice at the end of Duke's streak. It will be interesting to see whose teams continue to progress or regress the rest of the way.
Just like some of the ranting and raving that has been prevelent for the past 11 months, I am sick of the excuses from the FOC'ers after every loss. We have some great wins, but both NC St. and Auburn were mentioned in the National Championship picture before the season, and both will be lucky to get a new years day bowl.
LawB--I have never heard Gailey say this was rebuilding...he was going to take us to the next level.
